Training Friday December 17
Training was held at Brighton Grammar in, early morning to beat the heat.
What struck me was the intensity of the players and the condition they are in.
It looks like Nick Walsh has got them very fit, with noticeable muscle definition with Higgins and Crouch, which was lacking last year.
the focus was on half ground defensive pressure, with players very vocal and enthusiastic in their approach, with high intensity evident.
Those most vocal were Hanners, Wood, Wilkie, Highmore...with Hanners and Wood impressive also with their decision making and ball use.
Allison, Bytel, and Byrnes look stronger, Hill leaner.
Spots in some positions will be pretty hotly contested so the intra club and practice matches should be very competitive.
Gresham, Marshall, Howard, and Battle are being managed...Oscar Adams unfortunately has an injured wrist and will be in a sling for 6 weeks.
Max Heath is very raw but very competitive...he took a great pack mark under a lot of heat, looks a likely type but struggles with his endurance at this stage.
Owens, Kyle, and Perris had a session with Roughy, leading out to him, then kicking back to him using preferred then non preferred...all look comfortable on their left!
Windhager will join in full training after Christmas.
I looked at some vision of Jack hayes....looks a very versatile type, able to play back, forward, and even ruck, as he did in this year's SA grand final.

No Max King wasn't training...only 28 players trained that day, no doubt managing his work loads, along with a few others.

Great lyrics, but ( surprisingly ) not yours , Ira; although your brother did write the music.
I recall very clearly watching “ Porgy and Bess”. I was- and am - not a fan of that musical , but agreed to Mrs George’s request that we see it when a live production came to Melbourne . Managed to snaffle tickets months in advance, only to realise later that it clashed with the 1987 Brownlow - so I missed all the drama of Plugger winning.

You should have bought the tickets. “Porgy and Bess? I thought you said you wanted to go to the Fairest and Best”George27 wrote: ↑Sun 19 Dec 2021 9:28pmGreat lyrics, but ( surprisingly ) not yours , Ira; although your brother did write the music.
