I have a really good feeling about next year. Haven’t felt this optimistic in 10 years. Just seems like the boys are primed and have realised that this is their time.

We keep key players healthy we’re a show I reckon

Will make a big difference if Gresham, Marshall, Ryder, Jones and Clark can all have injury free years and be consistent contributors. Paton to come back - who does he tip out?
Clark and Coffield to take it to the next level - both in the 50-60 game bracket now.
Ming to take the forward line by the scruff of the neck- will play his 50th mid season.
And Battle to find his place and blossom - also in the 50-60 game bracket.
Hannebery would be a big plus but I have sfa optimism he'll remain fit. He's still quality when fit. He's just rarely fit.

keeping my hopes in check so that they rise during the season, rather than plummet to the ground and smash into pieces.

But Paton broken leg Ryder going AWAL Marshall foot injury ,Gresh achilles, Hanners well who knows ,Billings apparently injury free , Copper Sharman showed us he is a diamond from the rough this year
has given me reasons to be bullish but hey mate it is St.Kilda so who knows & haven't bought a guitar in 5 years times are tough

I didn’t. Their pre season was disturbing last year. I’d heard that running times were nothing special and after being in a hub , a few had got comfortable. Then when Ryder knicked off at the start of the season, romo was injured, things didn’t feel right.

Still a fair chunk of pre season to go but for me, I’m feeling more optimistic

It's pre season for my positivety, I have come back in good shape after the break and it has shown in my time trials, I even recorded a PB. I'll probably take it easy over the Xmas break and enjoy some quiet time with family and friends before hopefully returning in top nick but the trick will be to avoid all that delicious Xmas food and definitely avoid second helpings.

After the Xmas break is when things will get a little more serious, there will be drills and team meetings and those type of things and then by about February full contact training starts and hopefully by then the positivety is in really good shape and my confidence is building positively.

By the time the intra club and pre season comp starts hopefully I am feeling really positive and by the time round 1 comes around I'm hoping my pre season has all gone to plan and my positivety is in peek shape. If I follow the process then I should give myself every opportunity to be positive about selection for round 1.

It's December, I'm positive.

Not sure

Many would argue we are a team choc full of B and C graders (Steele aside)

That will finish 10-14th

Which is probably correct?!

I’ve seen 1 pre season game
It didn’t inspire
I’m hoping it’s an aberration but what I saw was bombing into fwd 50 and slow to win it from the middle
We kicked all our scores on counter attack and turn overs
It’s a long year if that’s the only string to our now
I’m praying like everyone we get a decent run with injury but it’s not flash early
Still think we are another A class mid and key defender short

Are you saying Battle is not good enough to play Key?

Howard obviously is

Wilkie is a gun 3rd

On the midfield
Got good grunt in there Steele, Crouch, Jones, Bytel
Class needs to come from Gresham, Clark, W-Milera

I think Byrnes will be the big surprise this year.
He is no Jones or Hannerbery and he isn't fancy like Gresh, Clark or NWM, but he is putting in the work, has decent skills, is getting to more contests, going in at the drop of the ball with intent and I reckon his actual strength may be on the outside. Perfect opportunity for him right now.

Crouch- does get a lot of footy, but are his kicks accurate, to the correct option, etc, or is he simply a better version of Seb?
Jones- 'out' for a few weeks;
Bytel- 'out' as in 'jury still out' as he's young, but he shows promise

Gresh- is he recovered from the injury, will his running be affected by scar tissue (which isn't as flexible as normal tendon fibre)
Clark- that AC could take much more than 6 weeks, i.e. rebuilding that strength in the muscle will take time, and look at his physique- he doesn't add muscle in the summer, usually guys his age can add muscle- his body doesn't seem to build muscle
