Benefitting from Academy, F/S, and priority selections
Finally we nabbed a couple of academy picks. From 2012 to 2020, a few clubs have really been gifted a swag of high quality players through Academy pick, priority picks and the father /son selections. There were also the concessions that GWS and Gold coast had in their first three years, most of which are not included in this list. Would have been interesting to see how some of these clubs would have fared without those gifts

Re: Benefitting from Academy, F/S, and priority selections
Josh Dunkley was a FS player but wasn’t picked by his fathers team.
He played for Sydney, WB bid on him, Sydney passed. They got him fair and square.
While I get what you are saying in the thread of the article, St Kilda can’t really throw stones.
We were gifted Kosi in the same manner GC was able to grab Rowell.
We got compensation for Goddard and Dal Santo in the same way GC got Lukuius.
We grabbed Rice in the same way Collingwood got Daicos.
And now we got a swag of players the same way WB got Jamarra.
We haven’t managed to nail every one of those, but that’s not the system working for or against us.

GWS and Suns on a continual spin cycle of top 7 picks.
(Hopefully the Suns get another next year when we use our first pick to trade in Bing.)

Academy picks : gold
Father son: over rated sentimentality; except Gary Jr, Tom Liberatore and Darcy. Ok maybe not over rated but hit/miss.
Priority picks: AFL version of food bank.
- Suns are Demetriou's folly/curse that just keeps on giving - or rather taking. The dracula of Aussie Rules.
Let them merge with the Dolphins, the new NRL club AFL expansion thwarted - oh no, it didn't.
T Shirts with a dolphin jumping the sun would at least be marketable in Noosa and Hawaii.

Great to get a swag of talent through the NGA
We will have a very good batch of 18-21 year olds to develop together.
Starting Midfield:
NWM Windhager Owens
Heath Byrnes Bytel

Re: Benefitting from Academy, F/S, and priority selections
I wonder if we will have any NGA's or Father Sons coming through next year. Doesnt Stewart Loewe & Justin Peckett have sons who go ok? Loewe's oldest boy Sam played a season with Sandringham, then there is Oliver 18 yo, and the twins Lachlan & Tom 17 yo. Im pretty sure I read one of them was looking promising. Surely one of the Pecketts boys Sunny, 19, Jet 18, Elwood 15, Ace 13, and Frankie 11 will make it?

Surely the one before him should have been called Jake.
