Kosi - Those were the days
Remember it well
He was the difference that no team could answer for a while - as a ruck/forward. With Frazer, Aaron & Nick up front.

The boy could play a great contested mark a decent kick on goal head trauma killed his career. I had the privilege of sitting at his table at a Saints function in Perth . I have nothing but good memories of Kosist sandy wrote: ↑Tue 02 Nov 2021 8:33pm Remember it well

Re: Kosi - Those were the days
I specifically remember when bog Nick went down a year or two later….I think it was that journo (kinda short guy at SeN now, he’s sharp, good) ..anyway, this journo was giving his tips for the weekend, and he said, I swear, “He did it once before, he won’t do it again, Pies for me” ..I can’t be sure he said pies , but what ever it was , he was saying Kossie won’t be the miracle man a second time. He was right. We got gone, and badly.

Terrific player Kosi, forgot how agile he was as a younger player.
Goose could roost the ball too....good player, shame about that fractured leg.

Re: Kosi - Those were the days
Yeah I think the Goose injury is one that goes under the radar for the negative impact it had on us, would have been one of the great defenders for us.
The video also highlights how silky Dal was, something we sorely miss now!

Re: Kosi - Those were the days
I still can't believe the bump that Giansirashithead knocked Kosi into next week with, which Kosi didn't see coming, was deemed legal.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Kosi - Those were the days
I had a perfect view of the incident. Gia jumed at Kosi and it was actuality a clash of heads. I wanted Gia banned for life but, realistically, the actual contact was accidental. It was pure luck that Gia didn't knock himself out ( I still swear that, if I confront that little pric* in a dark laneway......). Still, he did pick Kosi off well outside the 5 metre limit and left the ground to do it. It was an off the ball incident and he should have done time.

Xavier Clarke was another we didn’t get to see he best of. Silky smooth skills.Banger9798 wrote: ↑Wed 03 Nov 2021 8:21am Terrific player Kosi, forgot how agile he was as a younger player.

He joined training just before the end of the season so should be able to do a full pre season. He’ll be ok as long as Roughead doesn’t go near him.shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Wed 03 Nov 2021 12:42pmHow is Paton coming along anyone?

Re: Kosi - Those were the days
Great watching that vision. The one thing that always confounded me though was why he couldn’t keep that form going? I know he had his injuries, but it was almost as if as soon as roo return to the team he allowed Roo to take that mantle is the premier big man of our team.

Re: Kosi - Those were the days
Yes, we had a lot of lesser known but highly skilled players that were replaced by more average types in the Ross Lyon era
Heath Black
Luke Penny
Brent Guerra
all classy and gone for
Players like
McQualter
Zac Dawson
Stevie Baker
fill similar roles..but not as good.

Guerra was a thug and no loss. Penny was injured.
Agree on Black.
Nothing wrong with Baker. He doesn't fit with those other losers.

How about I substitute another duo...
GT era class
Xavier Clarke
RL era worker-soldier
Clint Jones
So you say Guerra was a thug and Baker...?
Bakes was no thug...no cloak and dagger but what a scrapper!
Rhyme?
I hear you...
but Guerra had some class, and what a kick..
I guess Guerra did a Bakerish role at Hawthorn down back but a forward for us.

I attended the prelim final us against the Swannies in what turned out thankfully to be the thug's last game for us.shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Thu 04 Nov 2021 11:11amRighto..saynta wrote: ↑Thu 04 Nov 2021 10:59amshanegrambeau wrote: ↑Wed 03 Nov 2021 9:38pmYes, we had a lot of lesser known but highly skilled players that were replaced by more average types in the Ross Lyon era

The prick threw in the towel before half time. One of the most disgusting performances I have ever seen from a saints player. Just like Shanahan after the 1997 grannie, I knew Guerra would never again have a chance to disgrace a saints jumper.
Don't believe me? Have a look at the video.
Yeah, Baker was a bit of a thug too but at least he loved the Saints. What the tosser did to him was unforgivable.
Sad days bring back painful memories.
Loved watching X play. You are right. Pure class.

Re: Kosi - Those were the days
Guerra was actually a very good player, as he showed with the Hawks.
It took getting sacked by the Saints to jolt him out of his drinking habit that saw him tail away at the end of the season..
As far as thuggery goes, I think Bakes >>>Guerra

Re: Kosi - Those were the days
Yes…
Damn …
134 games or so under GT
70 under RL
My brilliant brain.
Scrub Baker…
From the model of lesser known classy players under GT and replaced by workers under RL

Well Guerra must have had a few during half time of that prelim because his second half was f****** pathetic.Banger9798 wrote: ↑Sun 07 Nov 2021 7:37am Guerra was actually a very good player, as he showed with the Hawks.

Yeah, I admit that Bakes was a bit of a thug but Guerra was a cowardly sniper, coming off the square hitting the unsuspecting.

Bakers king hit on Kane Johnson was way worse than anything Guerra ever did
Yes, Guerra used to Lind people up… but that was footy back then.
