Re: More rubbish reporting bagging the club!!
So, let's look objectively at this.
From a list perspective, our forward line is pretty solid.
We have King who had a really good second half of the season, Membrey, Sharman, and Marshall/Ryder as the resting ruckman/forward.
Our smalls include Higgins and Butler as well as the resting rover. We saw all too often that adding a 3rd permanent small forward didn't work.
Our midfield was decimated by injury last season...But at full strength you have Steele, Jones, Crouch, Gresham, and Hannebery as the main on-ballers. Add rotations of Ross, Bytel, Byrnes, and Connelly through that.
Outside you have Hill, Billings, Clarke, and McKenzie (who had a good 2nd half).
Defensively, we are now a key position defender short.
We have Howard, Wilkie, and Highmore as talls. Smaller defenders include Coffield, Paton, Webster, and Sinclair - who had a great year.
Depth wise we are a bit light on. We clearly need another ruckman and have recruited Max Heath (who is only 18) to help fill the gap. But he will take time to develop. We need to be patient with him...Like five years patient.
We have Wood, Joyce, Kent, Long, Geary, and Battle to add some depth and coverage.
Our target in this period should be Daniel Talia to fill an immediate need.
A second ruckman should also be a target but Ladhams is not worth a first round pick - which is what Port Adelaide are reportedly asking.
So, we don't need to spend up big on another midfielder like Cerra and there is nobody else out there that is really a target for us.
Maybe the club had a look at the available talent and has decided that the price is too high for the talent available and we focus on next season.
Also, there is no reason that we can't be a contended in 2022. Not for a flag but certainly for a finals spot.
We were very competitive in the run home and beat Richmond before the wheels fell off, Brisbane and Sydney all comfortably. We also ran Port Adelaide close at Marvel, and were in the game up to the end at Geelong and West Coast's home grounds.
Give us a full season out of Marshall, Ryder, Jones, and Gresham and we are a different team.

Good post. Heath has been likened to a young Carl Ditterich who was a star at 17, so I think we won't have to wait too long to see him in the firsts.Life Long Saint wrote: ↑Wed 06 Oct 2021 11:51am So, let's look objectively at this.

You are right. Injuries killed us last year. We will be better with a full list to choose from and with natural development
But it is Clark. No e.

Piss poor analysis by FF.
If we were a financial security, FF would rate us a SELL but their analysis is false and to be blunt, lazy and piss poor because they haven’t bothered to do their research. So, we are undervalued and cheap.

The continual use of future picks has limited our options this year,
Too much living on the never never and overpaying our imports in both trades and salary cap space has unbalanced things for years to come.

How dare you!! David King was a legend....in his own mind. His opinion is highly regarded in some remote country pubs ( who think he's still playing).Trev from the Bush wrote: ↑Tue 05 Oct 2021 8:34pm How dare the knobs at Fox Footy bag our club!
They have stepped into the domain of Saintsational forum posters!
Seriously, how does David King keep on Fox's payroll? Obviously doesn't rate Hunter Clark and overlooks the fact he was nearly beheaded in Cairns and pretty well missed the second half of the season.

Re: More rubbish reporting bagging the club!!
I keep reading about how bad St Kilda's draw was in 2021.
They have to play every team once which equals 17 games.
Along with bad luck with injuries that means it's the 5 additional games that people are saying contributed to our ordinary season.
Really ?

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?
