All alone

Well, we are now the only Melbourne Team where you cannot watch a grand final replay win in colour. Our last coach is now an assistant coach at a Premiership Club. That Christian guy who was a farkin obvious first pick in the draft has a flag. Post your positive posts please.

Yep. They were going to lose until Petracca decided that wasn't going to happen if he had a say in it.

Can't begrudge Melbourne. They were the best team of the season and their drought was longer than ours.

I'm glad they pumped the Dogs.

Cleanest bill of health for a club going into finals I can remember seeing. Barely a injury all year and the results show.

I think we had fitness and conditioning issues this year- and a bit too much puppy fat on some. I hope this gets rectified over the preseason.

As well as watching our grand final win in black and white, the only pictures we have of our captain holding the cup is in a Collingwood jumper

Or possibly its an allegory about how teams in the wilderness for a long time can eventually triumph after monumental stuff ups?Pick a good leader, give support, recruit shrewdly and get a little luck. Melbourne's example should hearten us not make us wallow.

Let’s be honest we finished higher than both sides in 2020. No one can honestly predict what the next season holds.

Yes, the difference between 2020 and 2021 for the Demons. They have 16 of the 22 who played 23, 24 or 25 games. More importantly, their top three players played all 25.

Just like when Ben McEvoy moved to Hawthorn and showed he'd been too fat every year he was at the Saints, the same can be said for Ben Brown.

The 2021 flag had its genesis when Melbourne recruited two players, the first in 2018, Jake Lever from Adelaide and the second in 2019, Steven May from Gold Coast. The fact that we gave them Christian Petracca back in 2015 is icing on their premiership cake.

Feeling Conflicted this morning

To Be Honest - St Kilda Football Club is at a nexus

Our Captain (Jack) has only one objective in mind - to win us a 2nd Flag - his impassioned plea at the Trevor Barker Awards is evidence of this.

If in 2022 we do not show SIGNIFICANT improvement and go deep into September then I fear all hope is lost for this club and we may as well fold. We are at that point

- Right Age Bracket for the majority of players
- Good Spine
- Missing a few components but basically there
- Some very good players missing last year but still only just shot ourselves in the foot
- Club taking a serious look at the list

The pieces are falling into place - it may take 2022 to just polish the edges - but - if we continue to cough up leads - get blown away - then we should pack it in

However - I feel that we have a leader who is going to inspire now.

2022 - the Year of the Saints!

“Youth ages, immaturity is outgrown, ignorance can be educated, and drunkenness sobered, but stupid lasts forever.”

― Aristophanes

If you have a Bee in your Bonnet - I can assist you with that - but it WILL involve some smacking upside the head!

We had our chances in a team with plenty of talent and blew it. Bloody painful. Good luck to the Demons, well deserved Premiership.

Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

I doubted they had killer instinct to pull it off (similar to our recent flag attempts) but when the game was in the balance & players needed to step up they did so good luck to them . I just wish our players could have had done something similar when they had that opportunity

I really hope we get a good fitness condition person who we still haven't appointed in it can be the difference with having players on the park or not.
Grant thomas days we had a great team but we also had shocking injury list which hampered our results plus no money.

SD don't worry we wont fold just merge with Tasmanian team and get Clarko to coach with all the benefits the AFL gives to interstate teams we might actually win one before I get to old.
