So, I think it comes down to the Bont or Ollie. I'll go with Ollie, but only through gritted teeth. He was BOG in the two wins against us.

Always knew the umpires don't know what they are doing.
The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Re: Who is going to win the Brownlow.
They only vote for a few players nowadays
That’s why the numbers are so high, through endless media players are so hyped the umps can’t see past them.
I think Bont got votes in a game he missed?!

It's pretty clear that Rattan's not a fan......a bit of a slur on our coaching staff really.axcellence wrote: ↑Sun 19 Sep 2021 11:05pmWell… whoever he was, he didn’t make it to the B&F’s top 10!

What was bewildering was Sincs not polling a vote. Umpires usually appreciate silky skills.

Were those rules “Don’t make your more senior / highly paid teammates look bad by playing so well”?tony74 wrote: ↑Sun 19 Sep 2021 11:50pmDoesn’t follow team rules.Toy Saint wrote: ↑Sun 19 Sep 2021 11:19pmIt's pretty clear that Rattan's not a fan......a bit of a slur on our coaching staff really.axcellence wrote: ↑Sun 19 Sep 2021 11:05pmWell… whoever he was, he didn’t make it to the B&F’s top 10!

Re: Who is going to win the Brownlow.
Club B&F awards vote quite differently to the Brownlow and placings are hugely influenced by number of games played.Toy Saint wrote: ↑Sun 19 Sep 2021 11:19pmIt's pretty clear that Rattan's not a fan......a bit of a slur on our coaching staff really.axcellence wrote: ↑Sun 19 Sep 2021 11:05pmWell… whoever he was, he didn’t make it to the B&F’s top 10!
So when only selected for a limited number of games like Dunstan this year (12 out of 22) it s virtually impossible to finish top 10 in club B&F.
Nevertheless it is somewhat embarrassing for the Club that he polled Brownlow votes in 5 of his 12 matches this year and votes in his only selected game last year. Despite this he was dropped after one match last year and was still dropped for the last match this season after performing so well.
He's quite entitled to think he was harshly treated by the selectors.

He's slow and his disposal is shite. Same with Seb.

Re: Who is going to win the Brownlow.
Why do you think Ross is slow?
Another misnomer
Dunstan had a 5 game patch where he was outstanding. Then was well beaten in the next few games and got dropped.

With Seb it's between his head and his foot where he is slow. The legs actually work alright.

Going from getting picked up at mid season draft, to picking up the first brownlow vote. Atta boy Sharman!

Re: Who is going to win the Brownlow.
And the number of umpires that go on to higher roles (not that umps are not important) is ????
Do they become talent scouts? Agents, Administrators. Not so much? strange then that their opinion is so revered (by some) in the Brownlow.
More than often great players win but that's to be expected. Nevertheless I doubt an umpire has ever played on a Tom Hawkins or a Mick Martyn to pick up the nuances of other than mid field roles. Love the form of Dangers and Joel though, soft/uncontroversial vote casting......
In his heart of hearts I reckon Hinckley if he had one choice of two would pick the Bont. Wines is very very good, but Bont this year has been better and has had to play in Ballarat and Tassie to losing rucks not Adelaide Oval to Lycett. Wines is a worthy winner and I wish he played for us but the Melbourne guys cannibalised themselves vote wise and as I say Bont was better. IMO.

Re: Who is going to win the Brownlow.
And that's a 5 game longer patch than Seb had this year...
Dunstan polled the same amount of votes as Dusty.
The fact the bloke who (easily) polled second in our brownlow count can't even get offered a contract is laughable.

Re: Who is going to win the Brownlow.
Hang on - do we definitively know he was NOT offered a contract
We assume that because at the start of the year he was told he would not be part of the future
Things change
Maybe he was offered 1 year - but wants 4
Also - if it is felt that He and Crouch play the same type of role and that we could perhaps get a different player for Dunstan then maybe that was the thinking
If you think that Dunstan is the equivalent of Dusty - I am afraid I do not share your opinion.
This is one area that a narrow vision is not a great tool - 5 great games - and then the rest shockers - does not assist in our quest for EXCELLENCE
Maybe the difference between his best and worst is greater than other players.
