RoMa kicking
I'm gonna get abused on this, but...
One of the recurring acts that sticks in my mind about Marshall is the poor attempts at kicking from a free or mark.
A lot of the time, he kicks off one step and too close to the man on the mark.
Against the Swines, the guy on the mark smothered it (yes, ump shoulda given Ro a 50m penalty as the guy didn't 'stand') and Swans got a goal.
The one-step happens far too often.
Is his head saying 'move it on quick' and being a big guy, he doesn't want to take the time?
Frustrating.

I'm sure the coaches are onto it, or they should be.

Re: RoMa kicking
I thought the coaches go thru video, post game.
Maybe some errors are missed during fast-forward, but an error like that Swans goal, you'd have to hit rewind and look closer, surely?
And during training, match sim especially, yell at him for gawd's sake.
Erase it from his game !

Re: RoMa kicking
He is also a very poor set shot for goal, which is a problem if he's going to spend time resting up forward.

Id agree. With all his positive attributes, this is noticeable but when it comes off, brilliant.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Fri 03 Sep 2021 12:19pm I'm gonna get abused on this, but...

Re: RoMa kicking
I agree 100%.
If anybody wants to look at his goals and points tally to try to argue, i hope they remember that out-on-the-full aren't counted, and I'm sure there's a lot.
Ch 7 show data on screen for goals n behinds during a set shot, but they never show OOF at all.

Re: RoMa kicking
I don't want to appear to be demeaning a player, just wanna voice an opinion on something that I think could be improved by better coaching.
I only ever played C grade Ammos so my opinion is like an armchair racing driver saying 'Ricciardo shoulda gone harder into that corner'

Raised this before in a thread. He kicks far to often when he should be dishing the ball off.

Re: RoMa kicking
I reckon he is a very good field kick (especially for a ruckman), but could do better with his set shots

Re: RoMa kicking
Ha ha I don't agree with any of these posts. He's usually an accurate kick and has a good technique. It was just the season gone by when he became more inaccurate.

Re: RoMa kicking
No too worried.
He has the skill but hasn't been executing, I think he can work that out.
If he keeps it up next year then I'll be concerned.

It's Under 9's football. I got it I'm kicking it. The amount of times he has his kick smothered or it shanks is ridiculous.

Re: RoMa kicking
Marshall is actually a very good kick, for a ruckman.
In fact he’s one of the better kicks in the team, his skill level for a 201cm is why he is such a good player. He’s not good because he’s big, he’s good because he can play!
His turnovers have either been lazy kicks or poor options
Not sure what’s happening with his goal kicking?!
He was a dead eye at Sandy in his first two seasons (where he played majority forward)

Re: RoMa kicking
I feel like he spent pretty much the entire year obviously hampered with injury... even when playing well I reckon he was still managing that foot.
Not surprising that his skills dipped a bit
Hopefully a rest and some practice gets him back on track
