Open letter (open post?) to Simon re permanent bannings.
Hi Simon.
This is an open letter asking you if you would reconsider re TB's recent 'departure'? There could be an alternative way.
As you know, TB is a highly valued poster on here. And has been since 1984. One of the too few remaining originals. And history, and links to history, are important, as you would know.
I also have reason to believe that TB does not frequent the Admin Forum, so may not even have been fully aware of his pre-existing two misdemeanours(?)
As you are aware Simon, several other long standing and valued posters (well, valued by by some ) have also been permanently banned. I'm do realise that you've been gracious in allowing people to return under different nics. But, maybe that doesn't quite cut it? The losing of iconic posting nics? Links to our history...?
So I was wondering if you could consider an alternative method to rein-in 'over exuberance' around here...?
Firstly starting with an amnesty. (Maybe think of it as incorporating something of the spirit of a 'reverse Yon Kippur', as that is approaching?)
Then, instead of permanent bans, maybe cumulative bans instead? (I.e.; First offence = 1 week holiday. Second = 2 weeks, and so on...)
And finally, a bit like the points system on our licenses, offences from a certain period ago are wiped?
Thanks for reading. And thanks for considering.

Re: Open letter (open post?) to Simon re permanent bannings.
Whilst I can see that the job of Moderating a forum of passionate numpties (we are St Kilda supporters after all) is a difficult and often thankless task - I agree with Dave - we have a history here at Saintsational. Personally - I have only been involved for about 15 years - to lose a 37 year 'veteran' over this is harsh. [I am the first to admit I would not take over the role - nor do I offer a solution to TB's banning]
I also do not view the Admin Forum - so I agree with Dave that it may be a mitigating defence - however - ignorance of the issue may not be a defence - I am assuming a person is PM with their warning.
I do not condone threats to life - we don't even kill spiders - but re-locate them - however - there needs to be leniency - especially when the 'joke' though very old and in bad taste was not meant as a threat [I would consider a 'holiday' just for the repetition of the joke which I think first surfaced in 1958. I can also see that the impact may have triggered people - hence I published the LifeLine number - and especially in these times of The Covid. I also think that TB was trying to be funny - however - and not the personal attacks that a lot of Posters snidely make under the veil of snipes.
I would also ask that that TB's permanent ban be re-considered. We are struggling to get discussions which continue for longer than 10 posts before denigrating into a slang match and personal attacks - also I would be loathe to look at the peak volume stats of posting recently - I am thinking at the moment we are just shuffling chairs on the Titanic here at Saintsational.
Fond regards in this time of Hardship [COVID and our Non Participation in Finals]

Re: Open letter (open post?) to Simon re permanent bannings.
So TB's orher two offences were using the cho word. A ridiculous ban imposed on a ridiculous rule using the collaborative urban dictionary definition - and only the urban dictionary definition!
. A definition invented by some prepubesent poster. It's what trolls do - go there and invent words and definitions. Yet somehow, against all commonsense and understanding our mod determines urban dictionary a reputable source. Imagine playing scrabble with him?
So we have three weekly bans - based purely on Simon's interpretation of events. And we lose a founding member of a dying site? Let's hope some decency and commonsense finally prevail and this overreactive ban is overturned. If not i fear asiu is correct.

Re: Open letter (open post?) to Simon re permanent bannings.
"Any post that negatively relates to or references, or baits (directly or indirectly) another poster, or posters, or group of posters in the Saintsational Fan Forum or leads to bickering to the level of an ongoing dispute, will be deemed a breach of rules and the penalty will be either a 1 DAY BAN or 1 WEEK BAN."
Not sure how this baits any posters at all. Certainly didnt lead to any bickering. Yet gets the maximum penalty, and two well past their used by date aforementioned bans get added to ensure a permanent holiday.
Now holidays are all well and good in this covid prison we currently find ourselves in, but TB is locked down like the rest of them in nsw and has been deprived of yet another social outlet by this ban.
Lets have some commonsense thanks umpire. Have a look at the slow motion replay

Unbelievable. You're back here 5 minutes and you're already issuing fatwas to the administration.Dave McNamara wrote: ↑Tue 31 Aug 2021 11:55pm Hi Simon.

TB or not TB?
That is the question
He needs to brought back into the fold, imagine not having this forum to have Saints related nervous breakdowns on.
In these Covid times,, we can extend a bit of leniency, surely?

TB will probably end up at Big Footy, he'll know plenty of posters on the Saints board there.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Open letter (open post?) to Simon re permanent bannings.
There are I believe two mods on the panel at present. May have been one or t'other that made this decision.
I don't feel it's the right decision and giving him a send-off ("bye-bye") was better left unsaid.
Rules are good but context, poster's longevity and history need to attenuate the application of the rules when appropriate IMO.

Not necessarily mate. Could have been KFT or BFUSA coz both would probably be enabled to implement the ban.
