Re: Ryder out!
It's not just Ryder out that hurts.
It's replacing him with Hunter.
Like a V8 supercar being sidelined and the racing driver has to enter his wife's BMW X5 (SUV for school run)

Re: Ryder out!
See the headline now
“Blues bounce back as Saints squander another chance”
Or
“Hunter stars in Saints revival abs kicks 6”
Probably no 1 I’ll go with

The big stat
When Ryder and Marshall play StK win 75%
Pity they’ve only played 6 together this season!!!!

Re: Ryder out!
Huge loss!!!
I thought there must be an injury cloud with our rucks when Hunter names as emergency.
Effectively Marshall replacing Ryder. Which one is the biggest loss to the team?

Re: Ryder out!
He was a big out but when you are relying on a 33 year old to be your saviour then we are in serious trouble

Good call he has been a shining light in the gloom & probably the only player that has gone to the next level can't think of too many others

Re: Ryder out!
BUMP
As soon as the fixture comes out, the selection committee and footy department need to plan 3 or 4 games where Paddy sits out next year. He needs to be managed the way GWS have done with Shane Mumford.
Paddy Ryder shouldn’t play more than 80% game time and we can’t afford to work him too hard in consecutive weeks or he is a high risk of injury
I reckon GWS have managed Mummy really carefully this year and that’s exactly what we need to do with Paddy if we want to play finals in 2022

Re: Ryder out!
Paddy only played 12 games in 2021, how much more "resting" should he get in 2022 ?
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Ryder out!
Agree totally, we need Paddy firing for finals, he needs to be properly managed next year and that means having a realistic 3rd optionScollop wrote: ↑Sun 29 Aug 2021 11:19am BUMP

Re: Ryder out!
Yeah I know, but they were all consecutive games. Once he came back into the side, the only rest he got was the bye round.
With short 5 or 6 day turnarounds and sometimes consecutive 6 day breaks or interstate trips, we have to do what GWS did. At his age and with our reliance on him, it’s got to be planned out and we can’t just expect him to play as many games as Marshall or our younger players

Re: Ryder out!
Let's hope for Paddy's sake that he does not have the same issues that his family suffered at the start of this years season.

We’re talking about stuff that the club can control. In the 3-4 weeks leading up to his injury there were times where Paddy was labouring. We took a gamble and kept playing him and the gamble didn’t pay off.
If we push him again there is 100 % chance that he’ll either redo his achilles or he’ll get some other issues with his body
