Saints are a much more attractive option for A. Cerra. I think we must be a good chance.
Carlton is in disarray in all areas. Mackay is their standout asset - we have King who is far better. Cripps is just about done, like Fyffe at Freo. Steele is in his prime.
Hannebery's salary cut and the delistings this year will mean we can pay well.
We are looking like finalists, Carlton are way off. We have an exciting young group on the up that he can hook up with.
I think we are a v. good chance and am hoping Adam is the man Tony74's hint alluded to.
Bell can be obstructive but most clubs can play brinkmanship quite well. In the end Bell cannot make Adam stay, which is a good starting point.
I think you are selling a few Carlton players short there, Walsh is a gun of the competition and Weitering is an excellent backman. Regardless, I don’t think our first rounder would get it done and we don’t have much else to offer, even if we could afford Cerra and were willing to let another first round pick go.
Bell can’t make him stay, he can make things difficult if clubs aren’t offering him value, which is what he should be doing in the best interest of his club. I still wouldn’t write off the hawks, they have a tendency to pop up as desired destinations for young players, will be interesting to see if that changes without clarko.
Just wondering how Carlton can fit another top player into the salary cap.
The recruiting of Martin, Saad, Williams together with re contracting Cripps Walsh and Weitering would need a fairly elastic cap.
Speaking on Sportsday WA, Fremantle GM of Football Peter Bell values the 21-year-old extremely highly.
“The interesting thing at this stage is that Adam hasn’t indicated a team that he would like to be traded to,” Bell said.
“He has said that Carlton would be one of the teams that he and his management would speak to.
“We drafted him as a pick five, he’s now played close to 80 games, he finished third in the Doig Medal last year, he’ll have a very high placing not withstanding missing a couple of games this year as well, and he’s an outstanding character with leadership qualities.
Media assumption seems to be that Carlton will pay what Freo ask. Not necessarily so with new regime in flux and a mid field that boasts Cripps and Walsh plus a fit Williams next year. If Bell over plays his hand who knows.

No surprises that Bell is talking him up. Perhaps he has forgotten that they still have a PSD and Carlton or any club below them can use the same. He loves beating his chest over the trade period, classical small man issues. I hope Carlton pull their pants down...

Hard for Freo not to feel invincible after the reaming we got off them in the Hill debacle!

Obviously they owe us because we overpaid them last time so it's only fair they cut us a good deal this time surely

The blue baggers are an administrative rabble at the moment. Matthews stated the trouble is at the top.
They also have a divided board with some against appointing Lyin due to his past.

Hill is not a debacle. Far from it.
How is it not??
All posters are equal, but some posters are more equal than others.

If you think about it they have Zac Williams, Patrick Cripps, Mitch McGovern, Harry McKay, Jack Martin, Caleb Marchbank, Jacob Weitering and potentially Sam walsh on good coin.
So how could Carlton possibly afford him?
Ahem - you've missed Adam Saad on $700K+ off that list too.
