Re: 2021 NGA Players Level 1 & 2
I want this guy.
Mac Andrew
He is 200cm but he moves so smoothly.
https://www.afl.com.au/video/655053/dra ... 7588800001
With Daicos and Darcy falling to father-son queue jumping the Saints will have pick 11.
He is a Melbourne NGA player but if the Saints take him in the top 20 Melbourne can't do a thing.
South Sudanese heritage but parents fled with him to Egypt before South Sudan got freedom from Sudan.
Now aussie aussie aussie oi oi oi.

Would be a great pick up but I reckon with Heath up our sleeves the 1st pick should go to the best available balanced mid with speed.ace wrote: ↑Fri 27 Aug 2021 9:11pm I want this guy.

8. Mac Andrew (Dandenong Stingrays)
The Melbourne Next Generation Academy prospect has probably been the biggest bolter across the season. He would have to put on size and ultimately be a long-term prospect for any club that picked him up, but his athleticism and ability to play across all thirds of the ground at 200cm excites AFL clubs. Excluding his NAB League match where he got injured, Andrew averaged 15.2 disposals from his five games – the most of any ruckman – according to Champion Data. His hit-out-to-advantage rate of 18.1 per cent was also ranked fourth among the NAB League’s top 50 ruckmen for ruck contests. The AFL has changed the in-draft NGA bidding rules for 2021, with clubs with existing links to multicultural and Indigenous Academy players unable to match bids inside the top 20 selections. While Andrew is raw, recruiters believe there’s “no chance” he’s slipping outside of the top 20, especially after his performance in a Vic Metro trial game at Windy Hill earlier this year. It means the Dees are almost certain to miss out on him.

We desparately need elite midfielders more than a long term ruckman/forward. I very much doubt Andrew will be on our recruiter's radars.

Re: 2021 NGA Players Level 1 & 2
So long as they don’t go too 20 we just have to bid
If they go top 20 then bad luck unless it’s us. New rule to skunk the saints after doggies hit jamar last year!
Lady Luck doesn’t follow the saints tho.
In fairness I think only Windhager is a top 20 chance prob more 20-40
Fingers crossed

Trade Radio:
If Mitchito Owens, who is a St Kilda academy player gets selected inside the top 20 - they won't be able to match a bid on him...A lot of the clubs I've spoken to like him in the 15-20 range." - Riley Beveridge
Surely Finnis & Lethlean are lobbying the AFL to allow the clubs who havent had a 1st round NGA to bid on one until each club has the same opportunity.
The below has been put together by hangdog on BF -
NGA's acquired by club
6 - Fremantle
4 - Port Adelaide
3 - Collingwood, Essendon, Hawthorn (1 unmatched), West Coast, Western Bulldogs
2 - Adelaide, North Melbourne
1 - Geelong, Melbourne, Richmond

Re: 2021 NGA Players Level 1 & 2
Who was that?
Biggy was in our NGA, but he went to the Tigers.
So which NGA player did we actually draft?

The Herald Sun just released their Top 30 and neither Windhager nor Owens rate a mention, hopefully it remains that way come draft night.

Richmond's bid fell a couple of places early.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Fri 23 Jul 2021 10:02pmAs long as they are not bid on inside the top 20 (this year), if we chose to we can match the bid. 2 years ago Bigoa Nyuon was a Saints NGA player who Richmond bid on at 54 and we chose not to match. He has yet to play an AFL game and did his ACL this year.
St Kilda did not have enough points to trump Richmond.
Had he been picked a few places later St Kilda could have nabbed him.

Re: 2021 NGA Players Level 1 & 2
I would have thought that the points difference would have been negligible, and if needed could have gone into deficit on the third round the year after. It could have been done, with minimal impact to either draft hand. I think (absolutely pure guess work here, not an ITK) they just chose to not pick him.ace wrote: ↑Mon 04 Oct 2021 2:50amRichmond's bid fell a couple of places early.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Fri 23 Jul 2021 10:02pmAs long as they are not bid on inside the top 20 (this year), if we chose to we can match the bid. 2 years ago Bigoa Nyuon was a Saints NGA player who Richmond bid on at 54 and we chose not to match. We selected Ryan Brynes at pick 52, Nyuon was selected by Richmond at pick 54.
We obviously rated Brynes higher, so far so good..

Re: 2021 NGA Players Level 1 & 2
It’s the power rankings, not a mock draft. It actually says he is projected to be drafted between 10-20.MC Gusto wrote: ↑Mon 04 Oct 2021 7:15pm https://www.espn.com.au/afl/story/_/id/ ... lose-draft
Pick 11
The top 30-odd players (outside of the top 4) this year seem to be all over the place in most predictions. No one is getting a good read on it. We are just gonna have to wait.
The only thing we have got going for ourselves for these NGA kids, is that they didn’t get a bunch of exposure this year, so everyone is just speculating on them. Especially Owens. He came out of nowhere with 2 good games.

At least our recruiters will know him better than any others and should be able to make an informed decision.

I see your thinking, but I don’t agree. I would only take him at 11 if we think he is the best available at that pick.Gershwin wrote: ↑Tue 05 Oct 2021 12:17pmMakes you wonder whether we should draft Windhager at 11 ?diddley wrote: ↑Mon 04 Oct 2021 10:09pmIt’s the power rankings, not a mock draft. The other things is the article is referring to Owens at 11, not Windhager. By this articles reasoning, we could grab Windhager outside of the 20 for sure.
