Giving up Red Time goals
Reckon we would have to be close to the worst team in the league giving up goals in the final 1 or 2 minutes of quarters
Today we gave up goals -
1st quarter with 1.58 & 1.15 left on the clock
2nd quarter - 36 secs
3rd quarter - 1.48
4th quarter - 1.50
and scored none ourselves

Re: Giving up Red Time goals
Good call should of kept them scoreless in the first quarter & go into quarter time 5 goals up but give 2 cheap goals in red time kills momentum & they get a sniff the rest is historyDevilhead wrote: ↑Sat 14 Aug 2021 11:49pm Reckon we would have to be close to the worst team in the league giving up goals in the final 1 or 2 minutes of quarters

Re: Giving up Red Time goals
If it wasn't for the disgraceful DMac free against for tunnelling we might have kept them goalless in that 1st quarterbangaulegend wrote: ↑Sun 15 Aug 2021 12:04am Good call should of kept them scoreless in the first quarter & go into quarter time 5 goals up but give 2 cheap goals in red time kills momentum & they get a sniff the rest is history
Dmac had eyes on the ball stood his ground and had every right to protect his space - its not like he ran at him and pushed him under the ball

The Geelong player put himself into that position by the way he attacked the ball while McKenzie was already in position. Poor decision by the umpire.Devilhead wrote: ↑Sun 15 Aug 2021 12:10amIf it wasn't for the disgraceful DMac free against for tunnelling we might have kept them goalless in that 1st quarterbangaulegend wrote: ↑Sun 15 Aug 2021 12:04am Good call should of kept them scoreless in the first quarter & go into quarter time 5 goals up but give 2 cheap goals in red time kills momentum & they get a sniff the rest is history

Officiating blocks in the ruck is also something the umpires need to seriously re-visit. If a ruckman positions himself to advantage to get a tap that to my eyes is a player using his ruck smarts. What is he supposed to do? Say sorry and move out of position! Phht. Worse things are let go in the ruck with no penalty.
Noticed the Cats also got away with throwing Saints players to the ground before they even got to the contest. A couple later in the last quarter, King about 15 metres out and I think Kent at half forward. Can't explain how those were missed.

Re: Giving up Red Time goals
First goal to the pussies was the result of a very dubious free kick. Followed up by 9 in a row in the 2nd.bangaulegend wrote: ↑Sun 15 Aug 2021 12:04amGood call should of kept them scoreless in the first quarter & go into quarter time 5 goals up but give 2 cheap goals in red time kills momentum & they get a sniff the rest is historyDevilhead wrote: ↑Sat 14 Aug 2021 11:49pm Reckon we would have to be close to the worst team in the league giving up goals in the final 1 or 2 minutes of quarters

But in the end those pricks were just too good.

Re: Giving up Red Time goals
Would be intresting to see the stat on which teams give up the most red time goals. Reckon we'd be right up there. Been a problem for a while now to the point I almost expect a late goal now. It's infuriating, as it's costing games and it shouldn't happen with such regularity. It's needs to be addressed by the coaching staff. I would dare say most teams are aware of it and go a little harder in the last 5 min, knowing we're prone to coughing it up.

Re: Giving up Red Time goals
If all quarters went 16 minutes rather than 20, we actually finish lower.
