Talia
Can anyone confirm we are chasing Daniel Talia?
Social media is saying we're going for him to play a lockdown role on key forwards and free Dougal Howard to be a rebounding intercept defender.
It makes perfect sense. Talia was out of the Adelaide side for the year through injury.
A 29 year old two time All Australian. Says he has plenty of good footy left in him.
The last time we recruited a veteran All Australian it worked out pretty well for us.

Re: Talia
This time of year we after anyone who still owns a pair of football boots.
There is always speculation until someone makes the deal. I think a few clubs will sound him out.

Re: Talia
If he was out all year with injury, I hope we run as fast as possible
McKernan, Frawley, Hunter etc were all gambles that failed miserably.
I don't want the club to chase burnt out worn out players that just wanna use us as a superannuation top up fund

He is a couple of classes above the three players you mentioned.
There is a bit of deja vu with what you are saying.
Almost the same arguments were trotted out in relation to Paddy Ryder and he made people eat their words.

Re: Talia
Frawley was a good player, also an AA… but was too old at 32
And it’s never good when you have to coax someone out of retirement. Rarely works.
Others were back ups
Talia is 29 and wants to go on

Re: Talia
I suppose the only bit I question the internet on there is; how many intercept defenders can one backline have and is Howard really an intercept type or is he even capable of becoming one?
BTW I think if Talia is deemed physically up to it then grab him.
What do other think?

Re: Talia
Talia's been unlucky with injuries this year.
He recovered from a knee injury only to suffer an inflamed tendon in his foot due to a bone spur which required surgery.
He recovered from that injury resumed training only to suffer a shin fracture.
Have not read anywhere that any of these injuries were career ending.

Matthew Capuano.
Dual Premiership player with the Tassie Kangaroos
We got him when he was too old and past it.
Pointless to point out '2x AA' when that's just a line in a CV.
Forget about what he was.
How old is he, and will he be AA going fwd, or will he be another Hannas and get close to a recall, only to inflame an old injury?

Re: Talia
Hanna Barbera only has one year to go on his superannuation policy, the club will then need a new superannuant to carry on the role,
Talia might be just the player to take the baton.

Re: Talia
As much as I'd be happy to see Talia lining up for us in 2022 (my memories are of him taking seemingly endless intercept marks against us) but, would he be there when we are having a serious tilt at a flag in 23-24?
If the answer is yes, then get him - he is a gun.
If the answer is probably not, then we should look elsewhere.

Re: Talia
I seem to recall you had similar sentiments about Paddy Ryder being well past his use by date. Small hint. All Australian means you can play. Two times even better. But you are welcome to your opinion.

Re: Talia
Well, if I maligned you unfairly about Paddy, I apologise. it's just that I seem to recall......but I am old and my memory not always on the money. For example, I kept calling Mason Wood that other Mason, even when it was pointed out to me on multiple occasions.Wayne42 wrote: ↑Fri 20 Aug 2021 7:10pmNot sure if that's true or as an ex Journo you made it up, Journos have form for fabricating.
