"St Kilda refused to accept what seemed inevitable as Andrew Thompson, Jason Traianidis and Ben Walton helped fuel a mighty last quarter."

Re: Last win in Pussy Hollow
Who on earth is Zak Jones listed as a rover alongside Robert Harvey and Tony Francis
I remember this game for the headline it produced in the paper the next day:
Stop Harvey, Stop St.Kilda. Cats fail on both counts
Always a favourite

Re: Last win in Pussy Hollow
We were horrendous in 88
And disappointing in 99
So they were good upset wins!

Re: Last win in Pussy Hollow
Our last win down there was the peak moment in Tim Watson's coaching career. It capped a five-game winning streak; included in that was a 43-point thrashing of Essendon, who would finish top of the ladder.
The stunning win over Geelong - even better than the win down there the year before - seemed to confirm we had all the attributes to be a contender.
The next week we were blown away by the Swans at Waverley; a day I vividly remember because our club and fans were lost in the Lockett celebration aura (having just kicked 1300). We wanted to pay homage to Plugger that day and reclaim our stake in him. Which was fine, but it went overboard - I remember we laid down spinelessly after quarter-time and we got well beaten by a Goodes-inspired Sydney. I was quite worried about the lack of fight.
And a week after that saw the capitulation against Hawthorn that set the club back five years. Followed by an unbelievable defeat against Collingwood to make it three collapses in as many weeks. We fell apart, hopelessly, and missed the eight. And then won just two games in 2000.
Never has a club's fortunes been so high and so low just 14 days apart.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

4th beating 7th is hardly an upset.

Everton,
That is strikingly succinct and eloquent. You summed it up, unfortunately. A walk down the corridors of the St Kilda museum - to see glorious art and a house of horrors in one visit. And you can't get your money back. We always preach, one day at a time, history never repeats etc., and strive not to get caught up in myths and stories and narratives that can be hackneyed...but woah..them bells did toll!
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Above Geelong, not that it's relevant in determining an upset in round 10.

Re: Last win in Pussy Hollow
55 was a vintage Saints year
1 win out of 18 and 45.4%
St Kilda's average score of 47.8 per match was the lowest average by any team since 1919

Shouldn't the place be called the Hollow Pussy?
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Last win in Pussy Hollow
Ditto for me. I still remember exactly where I was sitting , exactly what I was thinking, and exactly what one particularly obnoxious Geelong supporter behind me was saying about our blokes as his team disintegrated before him.
On the drive home I really thought Watson was a genius and we were on the way to the finals and better. Two weeks later we lead the Hawks 11.5 to 1.2 and then the wheels fall off and we take five years to find them ..
