Ladder Predictor!
Hi Folks,
I'm not usually one for Ladder Predictors however in a moment of boredom I started playing around with the one on the AFL website.
Provided we win our last two games (I know that's a big "if") and a couple of other results go our way, we can still finish as high as seventh!
Even if WC win tonight, we can still finish eighth.
Not saying this would be a good thing in the long term but still quite surprising.
Cheers!

Re: Ladder Predictor!
I am surprised the predictor accepted that Saints might win in Geelong. Seems a coding error in algorithm.

Algorithm should stop silly options like us winning at the Cattery.

Re: Ladder Predictor!
If ever we are going to win at Geelong, it will be this week without a crowd. Other than that, it's just a ground with green grass and four white poles at each end.
However, GWS are certainties to win their next two so it's all academic.

GWS play Richmond and Carlton - they will be favourites in both but I doubt they'll be certainties!perfectionist wrote: ↑Mon 09 Aug 2021 7:30pm If ever we are going to win at Geelong, it will be this week without a crowd. It's been over 20 years, even Melbourne and Fremantle have win there since then - and Carlton beat them there last season.
We're due.

I think if we starve them of opportunities and if our mids can control the footy and help out down back we can winsamuraisaint wrote: ↑Mon 09 Aug 2021 8:29pm It's been over 20 years, even Melbourne and Fremantle have win there since then - and Carlton beat them there last season.

Cleary and Cornes on their regular Saturday night gig on afl.com said the Giants outsmarted the Cats with kamikaze footy - chaos balls into their forward line and mungrel grubbers - which is sometimes our standard method of entry i50
They said that the Geelong defenders are not a very good contested ground ball winning backline.

By a point after the siren, with a kick to win that goes out on the full.
For some reason, weird things always happen with Freo.

Re: Ladder Predictor!
The 'most likely' (still not bloody likely!) scenarios:
Scenario 1:
Saints beat Geelong and Freo
GWS beats Richmond then loses to Carlton (or Richmond wins then loses to Hawthorn)
WCE lose both games to Freo and Brisbane
Scenario 2:
Saints beat Geelong and Freo
Essendon lose to GC or Collingwood
WCE lose both games to Freo and Brisbane

Re: Ladder Predictor!
It's worth noting that due to our 'excellent' percentage we jumped over Freo on the weekend.

If Ryder and Marshall both play and if King can get up we'll win this I think. I believe we're due.Scollop wrote: ↑Tue 10 Aug 2021 4:06amI think if we starve them of opportunities and if our mids can control the footy and help out down back we can winsamuraisaint wrote: ↑Mon 09 Aug 2021 8:29pm It's been over 20 years, even Melbourne and Fremantle have win there since then - and Carlton beat them there last season.

Re: Ladder Predictor!
None of the teams from 7 down deserve to be in the finals.
I cant remember a time when teams have literally fallen over the line at the end of the season.
West Coast, GWS, Essendon, StKida, Richmond, Fremantle. All playing like they dont want the last two spots.
It is almost as if they realise they can make it to the finals so they lose (eg Saints v Carlton, West Coast, Geelong, Adelaide etc)
Once the pressure is off and they assume they cant make it they play well (eg Saints v Richmond, Sydney Brisbane etc)
however they keep coming back into contention as the other teams around them are equally as bad.
