With 8:24 left in the last...
Can anyone read lips? Coffield has taken an intercept mark & has Ross screaming for the ball at 90 degrees. Coffield is trying to calm things down but I can't quite make out what he says to Ross.
My suspicion is it's not very nice.

I don’t blame him. Why would you give it to Ross who would most likely turn it over.
Ross had given Coff a spray earlier for a poor effort that lead to a Swans goal.
The spray was warranted, but I’d struggle to be told what to do by Ross.

Ross is a Leader - Not 'The Leader' - but a Leader

I found it interesting simply because Coffield is not shy in giving "advice" / "feedback" to more senior players. He did similar to Jones during the Eagles match.
He cops sprays from team mates but is not afraid to give back. Allowed time to find his 2020 form & more games like last night, we have another leader within our ranks.

And Ross was within his rights. It was a poor effort by Coffield which resulted in a goal. He really needs to work on his speed. He labours too much.

I don't mind players having a go at each other during the game, it is not as though Coffield is a rookie, he's in his 4th season at the club and should be encouraged to demonstrate his leadership credentials, an aspect of the St Kilda team that is not always on display.magnifisaint wrote: ↑Sun 08 Aug 2021 12:38pmAnd Ross was within his rights. Re: With 8:24 left in the last...
By contrast Steele just patted Rohan on the shoulder after his turnover goal play. I guess a giant like Marshall doesn't attract direct real time criticism as much for some reason. And we all know they don't make those plays intentionally.
Coff probably should have followed up the ground ball play harder, but maybe was a victim of circumstance in that another team mate was in vicinity to possibly make him hesitate a fraction and ball took a bad bounce for him.
Glad he is not making himself a soft target for senior players' frustrations, but. And not suggestions Coff is small, quite a big lad in fact.

Re: With 8:24 left in the last...
When i saw that incident last night i thought, Coffield has just marked the ball and Ross is calling for it but is either too close, thus creating a play on situation if he is given the ball or Ross was covered,
whatever it was Coffield thought it was bollocks that Ross was thinking he was the next link in the chain and expressed his thoughts as such.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

I reckon Coffield was of the view that a kick from centre half back where he was, was a better option than kicking it to Ross in the pocket... where he would stop, prop , look sideways then eventually opt to kick it out on the full

Coffield seemed to have taken a much needed dose if angry pills yesterday.
Apart from that one weak effort resulting in a late goal, he was much better

I counted 7 turnovers off the boot of Ross last night, not sure he can be the one to point the finger at anyone.magnifisaint wrote: ↑Sun 08 Aug 2021 12:38pmAnd Ross was within his rights. Marshall was extremely lazy in trying to kick off one step when he was so damn close to the Swan.Yorkeys wrote: ↑Sun 08 Aug 2021 1:36pm By contrast Steele just patted Rohan on the shoulder after his turnover goal play. To be honest he should have moved back a couple more steps, a touch lazy but I believe he actually drew a 50m penalty against Papley who had not made any effort to move out of the protected zone.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Mon 09 Aug 2021 12:09amMarshall was extremely lazy in trying to kick off one step when he was so damn close to the Swan.Yorkeys wrote: ↑Sun 08 Aug 2021 1:36pm By contrast Steele just patted Rohan on the shoulder after his turnover goal play.
