Blues on the rebound won’t be a walk in the park. I presume they get back McKay and Weitering is unlikely to play that badly again this decade. I wouldn’t take them lightly

If Carlton had beaten the top team last week I’d be concerned, but people are worried because they lost to the bottom team?

Too many times i've seen an embarrassed and villified team turn it around with a resounding upset win to ever write carlton off. We did it ourselves against the Tigers just a short while ago. And North were in better form than Adelaide.

Re: Friday night - win and we are in the 8
The difference is, they have a few key outs too. Z Williams, E Betts, and McKay is only an outside chance of getting up on Friday according to reports. C Curnow hasn't played for over two years either, so even if he does play, will be really off the pace.
When we played Adelaide we could barely field a senior team, that's why we lost. Carlton are on the ropes, pay them the proper respect, yeah; but we need to go into this with a confident percentage boosting state of mind. Play four quarters and we win easy.

Re: Friday night - win and we are in the 8
For us to stay in, one of the following needs to happen.
Freo beats Richmond
or
Collingwood beats West Coast
I don't think either are likely.
We would then have to beat Geelong and Sydney in later rounds to stay in there.
Sorry but the Port game was the last hurrah for us.

Re: Friday night - win and we are in the 8
Richmond favorite for the poison chalice that is 8th position this year. Its a ticket to an away game against a hot contender that rightly thinks it should be in the top 4.
However if we win anything can happen. Really, Carlton's form is not too bad other than last week and North recently beat Eagles in Perth. McKay back?
So a chance for us to put a really strong team on the park and test it. I presume Kent and Hunter will go for DMac and Rowan. Possibly Coffield for Highmore. Of course Clark in if he really is fit. Butler's second half probably dropped Higgins down the pecking order. Saw Sinclair grab his hammy area after that great late goal but he seems ok according to injury lists.
Be nice to sing the song again and be in the 8, albeit temporarily. But stranger things have happened, what if Richmond really imploded.

Coffield came in for Highmore last week.

True but with Covid you never know where the game might be. Doubtful it's Sydney in Sydney.Yorkeys wrote: ↑Wed 28 Jul 2021 10:25am Richmond favorite for the poison chalice that is 8th position this year. Re: Friday night - win and we are in the 8
We have to beat Geelong and win all our games.
Richmond is the issue
- Freo
- North
- GWS
- Hawks
Realistically GWS is the only difficult game. Here is hoping Freo (minus Nat Fyth) can beat them !!

On current form, the tiges without Dusty & the roos without Cunnington, spells a draw to me. Richmond's given up.

I don’t think it’s about Carlton....it’s more about uskosifantutti wrote: ↑Tue 27 Jul 2021 2:09pm If Carlton had beaten the top team last week I’d be concerned, but people are worried because they lost to the bottom team?
Every time expectation to win comes on this side they flounder
This is absolutely 50/50 and if St Kilda want to mature they need to excise some demons and get it done ..,
Media pumping them up enormously...
I suspect it’ll be our turn next week...

We - and the gods of footy - have been doing everything to try to avoid us playing finals this season.
Will Marshall be available or does he still have quarantine time to serve? Does the game being moved to Friday night prevent it?

Bit of a worry though. We are being badly beaten by a team that made North look like premiers last week.
