Dunstan on Suns radar
So its been reported that Dunstan is on the Sun's radar and that they are also looking for tall forwards (Lobb / Callum Coleman Jones)
Does 1 + 1 = ? ? ? ?
Does 1 + 1 = ? ? ? ?

Re: Dunstan on Suns radar
Pick 8 and 2 average players for their ONLY Key Forward, that'll do it.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Dunstan on Suns radar
They’ll want at least 2 top 10 picks for Ben.
A waste if you ask me, spend those picks on young mids and hope to get the next Bont.
Oh, and Dunstan can just walk to GC if he wants, they don’t have to deal with us.

Re: Dunstan on Suns radar
Isn’t Day one of their Key Fwds
Wouldn’t Battle be another
I’d go all in for King
Would give us a point of difference
2 x 202cm key forwards
Who are both quick and agile
One leads and kicks goals
The other takes contested marks
Mids are a dime a dozen - there’s loads of them
I can count less than 10 200cm Key forwards in the league
And a few of them are average like Lobb and Wright

Re: Dunstan on Suns radar
Day is a spud unfortunately for them and Battle is a battler so Bing is definitely Gold Coasts only Key Forward.
I think GWS set the bar for key Forwards with what they got for Cameron last year.

Investing so much in one part of the ground is going to leave you unbalanced in others.
It’s a midfielders league, lose the midfield battle and it doesn’t matter who’s playing up forward.

No one could think that Bing at present is worth anything like Cameron who is an established star of the competition.

Re: Dunstan on Suns radar
Ben King doesn’t have the runs on the board Jeremy Cameron has
He kicked 65 in his second season and 60 odd in his 4th
Won 9 goal kicking awards at GWS
Won the Coleman with 76 in 2019
Ben King is not worth what a peak age Jeremy Cameron is worth

Don't underestimate Tony Cochrane, he'll be in any trade up to his nose hairs, if we want Bing we'll have to negotiate a tradelongtimesaint wrote: ↑Thu 22 Jul 2021 7:27pmNo one could think that Bing at present is worth anything like Cameron who is an established star of the competition.

Re: Dunstan on Suns radar
From what I understand the GC will not let Ben go. Why would they, he is crucial to their current build and they are doing everthing they possibly can to keep their current crop, with plent of help from the AFL.
I think Dunny is gone but I think he could end up at an Adelaide club before he goes to Queenland.

Re: Dunstan on Suns radar
Exactly, I just posted to say something similar, he is like Buddy to them and they see him as the most crucial cog in this current build, even if he was gettable we don't have the money to throw a God Father offer his and GC way.Wayne42 wrote: ↑Thu 22 Jul 2021 8:05pmDon't underestimate Tony Cochrane, he'll be in any trade up to his nose hairs, if we want Bing we'll have to negotiate a tradelongtimesaint wrote: ↑Thu 22 Jul 2021 7:27pmNo one could think that Bing at present is worth anything like Cameron who is an established star of the competition.

They would be interested because they need someone to replace Greenwood who they lost to an ACL. Might make for some interesting times if Ben King comes into play?

Gold Coast are looking for a 2nd Key Forward to help Bing in 2022, not instead of Bing.Vortex wrote: ↑Thu 22 Jul 2021 8:10pmExactly, I just posted to say something similar, he is like Buddy to them and they see him as the most crucial cog in this current build, even if he was gettable we don't have the money to throw a God Father offer his and GC way.Wayne42 wrote: ↑Thu 22 Jul 2021 8:05pmDon't underestimate Tony Cochrane, he'll be in any trade up to his nose hairs, if we want Bing we'll have to negotiate a tradelongtimesaint wrote: ↑Thu 22 Jul 2021 7:27pmNo one could think that Bing at present is worth anything like Cameron who is an established star of the competition.

If G.C. want Dunstan they'll make him an offer then it's up to Dunny, he'll probably think about how the Saints didn't really want him a couple of months ago.
I wonder if Dunny going to G.C. would get the Saints back into the 2nd round of the draft ?

Re: Dunstan on Suns radar
Apparently
There’s that word again?!
How would anyone know how he feels?
Let’s look at the options
Playing with a poor excuse for a club in a place where very few GAF about AFL
Or
Playing at a club near his family home in AFL heartland

Re: Dunstan on Suns radar
A business I have a lot to do with is a major sponsor at Metricon and so I get a little trickle now and then about what is happening at GC. Obviously the trickle has passed many people before reaching my ears hence the word "apparently". But from all accounts Big Tony and others are doing everything possible to make it extremely hard for Ben not to not love the place and that inlcudes making sure Bens family are happy as well. I don't think Ben is going anywhere anytime soon unlsess the wheels completely fall off this build and Ben changes his mind but I get the feeling a lot of work and help from the AFL are making sure this build yeilds some success.

Re: Dunstan on Suns radar
He’s been on the list for what, 3 years.
Highest finish so far has been 14th and they’ll be lucky to do better this year... meanwhile Max won a final with the Saints last season

Re: Dunstan on Suns radar
Yeah totaly agree that Ben could lose hope with the GC so maybe next year is important in terms of whether the GC show improvement or not but they have got a lot of games into the list now and have way too much talent not to start rising up the ladder soon. I predict they are about where GWS was about 5 years ago before peaking in the 2017 GF. They will target some more mature age players this year and then should start rising up the ladder in the next year or so.
Put it this way, I don't think we are chance with Ben for at least 2 to 3 years, so the question is can our own list build wait that long to fix one of the more urgent issues with our structure.

Re: Dunstan on Suns radar
Sadly, if he provides currency in a possible Bing trade then we’d have to explore it.
Bytel, Clark, Byrnes and to a lesser extent Connolly all need more time in the middle.

Maybe Bing might want to tell GC to go and f*** off. What do they do then?Vortex wrote: ↑Thu 22 Jul 2021 8:07pm From what I understand the GC will not let Ben go. Possibly, one things for sure, it's going to be fascinating to see what decisions he makes at the end of 22. If GC stsrt rising up the ladder in that time even more so.magnifisaint wrote: ↑Thu 22 Jul 2021 10:50pmMaybe Bing might want to tell GC to go and f*** off. How does the GC treat the King family like, umm, Kings?
I thought they lived in cold dreary Brighton or somewhere else on our bay
