We are not playing this ground well IMO and it feels as though we’re a 5 goal better team on the road atm
The teams we pick and our style doesn’t match up for the conditions.
The inside stadium relies of a few inside mids shovelling the ball to fast paced mids, streaming forward in numbers, quick movement and pinpoint passing to leading forwards that either grab it on the lead or take contested grabs… if they drop, the second chance are these highly skilled crumbing players that get it out fast or punish you for leaving them free.
On the defensive front… you flood. Lots of movement from the mids and flanks up the ground… you big forwards push up the ground to take marks in the centre if you win the ball deep in defence.
I don’t know what it is that we’re doing.
We have a lot of players with very iffy disposal or bad decision making
Our ball movement tends not to be that fast
Way too many players with either bad disposal or really bad decision making
With our key forwards, the goal seems to be for them to bring the ball to ground rather than take marks on the lead.
I don’t get it
It’s an interesting consideration as someone pointed out earlier in the week… you don’t play finals at Marvel and we’re certainly better equipped now to play outside and away then we have been before…
However, I really feel like our strategy is all over shop here
We need to have a conversation at Marvel Stadium!

Agreed, I'm not sure what our record is there from the start of 2020 but gut feel is not good.
Plenty of wins at Metricon and MCG, but Marvel no luck. I reckon our win% might be better at the Adelaide Oval.

Quite true skeptic. We are relying on essentially a tractor like engine to win the Indy 500. If we can't have fast legs we need accurate disposal at Marvel.
I loved the run we got going in the last quarter but the lack of it in the 2nd quarter and half of the 3rd quarter really let a tall, big bodied Port Adelaide into the game. It overwhelmed our undersized backline.
Then what rips apart a team running hard like we were in the last were dinky, cute kicks and poor decision making.
That in turn forced us to get away from our designated kickers from full back, Howard is certainly not one but took the last kick in to prove why he should never do it. He played well, very well, but became a victim of earlier poor kicks and decisions.
This loss to Port can go in the pile of games we should have won in 2021. Throw it on top of Geelong, Sydney and Adelaide.
2021 has fast become a missed / wasted opportunity. Do I trust St Kilda to learn from this, not really. Recent history suggests "No".
