First unchanged line-up for the year. Bytel the most likely sub? Nice to see Connolly getting backed in by the coaching staff.

Yep not all young players need a rest. Connolly might but may not too

Re: Team v power no change
Port have a lot of key outs. Their injuries are worse than ours:
Gray, Butters, Rozee, Duursma, Fantasia
That is 5 clear best 22 and indeed 5 very very good players out.
If we bring attitude, we should be too strong for their depleted line up.

Re: Team v power no change
Good outs for us. All attacking players. Their forward line was disfunctional last week and our back six are like a wall at the moment and now loosing the likes of Rozee and Motlop, they'll be feeling the pinch. We bring last week's effort and we'll win by 30+. Keeping them to a low score would be handy for %. Just got to keep Charlie D quiet. Howard will know his weaknesses.
Very bullish on this game.

Totally agree, his St Kilda history suggests being a liability as much as an advantage in any given game he may play for us. I agree that is almost as good as Ports outs but I argue not quite!
I have
Gray slightly ahead of Gresham, playing similar roles
Butters slightly ahead of Clark
Fantasia and Higgins similar
That leaves Duursma and Rozee against Paton and Coff... again.. not a lot in it
Hannebury is just not considered an out.. more a finished
So yes... it is very similar outs, I just had Ports outs slightly ahead of ours but not much in it.
But the main difference is that our outs are more spread across the field so perhaps easier to replace.. for example Webster has proven a very good replacement for Paton and Highmore a good replacement for Coffield. Harder to replace all their attacking midfielder types, i.e. it is harder to have depth in one area

Hannaberry still occupies a spot on the list and a good chunk of salary cap, so the least he can do is make my list look better!

Re: Team v power no change
Umm, so this game is in Melbourne? Anyone know how many games Port have played here against us? They are blessed by their unpopularity so get a lot of games at home then a lot of games at neutral venues.

Re: Team v power no change
On the Saints App, Jake Batchelor (Zebs coach) said Battle played really well on the wing, says that the wings on TBBO are normally a ghost town so it was pleasing to see him get lots of possies there

Re: Team v power no change
I suspect Port will be the first team to put some work into Byrnes and Connolly so it will be interesting to watch how they go in a game that has some season defining value for both teams and one where the opposition knows their names.
A damn shame there won't be a crowd.

Don't think we have played Port at the dome since 2013 or 2015. Anyway, not for a long time.

Sadly, including this weekend, it's still a long time since we've played them in front of our home crowd.

Re: Team v power no change
Both being very good runners, that just works in our favour and is the kind of onfield depth our mids require to share the load of attention.Vortex wrote: ↑Fri 16 Jul 2021 9:17am I suspect Port will be the first team to put some work into Byrnes and Connolly so it will be interesting to watch how they go in a game that has some season defining value for both teams and one where the opposition knows their names.

Now we know its difficult to keep Steele, Crouch, Dunstan and Ross away from the ball, but add Hill, Byrnes and Connelly to a lesser extent and oppo team will find it hard to score while checking our blokes.

With All Vic VFL teams now having a bye I expect Joyce and Lonie to warm up and probably Lonie to be Sub as bit more versatile should we have an injury

Battle has stress fracture in his ankle, is done for the season. In a Steele interview today they suggesting there may be a change in the game time to accomodate Ports travel arrangements.
