Latest Injury News
From afl.com.au:
"Wood was a late withdrawal from the win over Brisbane with lower back and hamstring tightness with scans later revealing a bone stress injury in his back. He will be assessed over the next three to four weeks with no timeline set on his return. Higgins also missed with back soreness and has been ruled out of the clash against Port Adelaide this weekend, while McKernan's toe injury continues to stall. Coffield and Clark have made quicker-than-expected progress from respective injuries, however Geary remains unlikely to return this year."
It raises interesting questions, will they go in with the same winning line-up, Battle as medical sub - did Kent do enough and should he perhaps swap places with Battle, that's what I would prefer but its probably no big deal. If Battle does not come in to the 22 they should give him a run in the 2nds to sharpen his skills.
Haven't seen any mention of Jack Bytel who is not listed as injured.

Battle and Bytel both got a run with Sandy and both did particularly well.Sanctorum wrote: ↑Wed 14 Jul 2021 4:57pm From afl.com.au:

Kent
Connelly
About the only vulnerable ones from last week
I'd prefer Battle to Kent and have Bytel as sub

Re: Latest Injury News
I reckon Connelly is a bit of an exception. The kid clearly has the nous and skill to benefit his development in a better side. Though small, he is courageous and quick and it appears that he knows where to run.
Like Byrnes, it wont take long for him to begin to impact with 12-18 possessions.
I get the feeling that in 12 months he will be described as smart and dangerous wing/half back, capable of producing an attacking outside game.

Re: Latest Injury News
Wood is very unlucky, he was in probably the best form of his career before the injury. Is bone stress the same as stress fractures?
Either way hopefully he recovers quickly and gets back out there this season.
I cant see any changes this week, they will give Hannebrey a full game at Sandringham before bringing him in. Both Kent and Connolly did enough to hold their spots IMO.

Re: Latest Injury News
Bad news for Wood, I feel he was just starting to find a groove and was clearly keeping Battle honest. When do we start getting some luck with injuries.
Seriously there is a lot of time spent musing about all aspects of what is needed to be a successful team but the reality is the thing you need as much as anything else is LUCK

Anyone that thinks injuries doesn't play a huge part in the success of a team is a fool.

Re: Latest Injury News
bone stress often just means striations on the bone (fine lines of pressure - often related to twisting the bone - image vice grips doing a chinese burn on your bone)Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Wed 14 Jul 2021 11:34pm ..... Is bone stress the same as stress fractures?
stress fractures are just that breaks that dont go right through the bone & yes more serious ( think old school "green stick" )
