A few weeks ago, I criticized Dougal and said he wasn't as good as everyone is making out.
I said he gives too much room to his direct opponent, when his man gets a break and takes an easy mark, Dougal glares at team-mates and points the finger...
I said his kick-ins are just a long bomb to congestion...

I realise that he is a hugely important player in our backline.
In our bad losses, the whole team was at fault, not just him.
In our good wins, he has been a great contributor and he and Wilkie are crucial.
Yesterday's game had him rank very low with AF fantasy points, but his influence wasn't revealed in AF points.
He stuck to his task, always has, and gives everything to the cause. You can see that he really cares a lot about the team, and the club.
Great to have him in our side

With the loss of Gears, there is an opportunity for guys like Wilkie and Dougal to grow as leaders

I think Hill has also been important in the backline, especially at stoppages where he directs some of the younger blokes

Plays very loose as a FB but reads it OK coming in.

I dont want to jinx him but the other thing is his durability, he hardly misses a game. Thankfully as he is an integral part of the defence.

He’s not a FB for mine he’s better as a higher attacking CHB /interceptor but we have no big FB to do that job (Frawley waste of money) so he’s had to do it
