Fischer McAsey
From Adelaide
Any interest?
197cm CHB from Sandy Dragons
First round draft pick #6 in 2019 draft
Not getting a game at the moment, maybe he wants out?

No interest whatsoever.
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Re: Fischer McAsey
Why not, do we need another tall defender to take pressure off Dougal Howard and allow Wilkie to be a #3
Or are we happy with the 191cm Wilkie being a 2
And Highmore being the 3

Re: Fischer McAsey
Pure speculation, he has signed for another 2 years. They have probably looked at him and passed.

Re: Fischer McAsey
We definitely need another 197cm+ defender to replace Carlisle
Doubtful its McAsey though given he has signed an extension

Might be best left to the end of the year when we are approaching trade period.

Re: Fischer McAsey
Do you reckon that’s when list managers start thinking about the list.
Or are you just being obtuse?

Re: Fischer McAsey
I can't tell if the post went to s*** when you realised he has a 2 year contract or when you compared the urgency of continuing this thread, with when list managers start considering the list.
If I'm an antagonist, you are a victim of your own ego. That's if I'm being honest.

That is unless you want us to over pay for a kid who drafted high and isn't getting a run after signing on for 2 more years.

Re: Fischer McAsey
Contracts can mean FA
If players want out, and wants to go to another club
They generally get there
There have only been a few circumstances (Papley) where a player has been forced to stay and honour their contract. Most of the time a trade is facilitated.
Hypothetically
Would you trade
23yo 192cm Highmore
For
19yo 197cm McAsey
What about Dunstan?? Would you consider losing a mid to gain a key defender??

Re: Fischer McAsey
Dunstan can simply walk. Unrestricted free agent. If he wants to leave we need a biddin war between a few clubs for his services. The higher his deal, the better the draft pick we would get but with no second rounder, the AFL may be tempted to give us a second third rounder for him. But that might be enough for McAsey.

Re: Fischer McAsey
I wouldnt think we need him. We now have Highmore who is playing really well, plus Clavarino & Joyce have developed their games this year.
Then there is Allison who is currently playing in defence, but is a long term developing kpp.

Re: Fischer McAsey
My thought is that we have an outstanding mid size 3rd defender, and that is Wilkie
Highmore 192 is either a 3rd or a 4th
We have a future 4th defender in the 190cm in Coffield
Who we seriously hope goes past Highmore
Better by foot
When we play teams like Geelong
Who plays on a
197cm 108kg Hawkins
And
197cm 96kg Cameron
All three of Wilkie/Highmore/Coffield are well suited to forwards between 188-193cm mid size
Wilkie probably the best suited to playing taller
Highmore atm is probably ahead of Coffield
But it’s not long ago that Coffield finished 5th in the B&F in a side that won a final!
Looking to improve the list
I think we need another KEY BACK and another Ruck/Forward
Highmore looks very promising and may well turn into a very good defender, and seems like a ripper fellow!
But perspective
McAsey is only turning 20
At that age Highmore was undrafted from the Giants academy and playing in the NEAFL
I don’t know?
It’s probably a poor call, but to take the list from 6-12 to 1-4
Id be doing EVERYTHING I could to bring in Ben King and a CHB

Re: Fischer McAsey
Our defence is one of the better in the comp and whilst it would be handy to have a backaman that can stand the monster forwards I think we have a much greater and immediate need for another key tall forward, a forward/ruckman ideally.B.M wrote: ↑Mon 12 Jul 2021 10:44pm My thought is that we have an outstanding mid size 3rd defender, and that is Wilkie

I'd be looking for said key backman at the 2022 trade period and hope that one of Frawley or Carlisle can go around again.

Re: Fischer McAsey
hmmm
i've been operating from the understanding
that the Ben bit is organised
(no proof , just whispers via another afl mob that are not GC or the Saints)
[from earlier this year]
be extra good if we could organise other bits that we need
... but then , how far does fuckall stretch
i suppose becomes the question
