Re: Ryan Byrnes
I love the way he takes the game on, there’s almost a little R Harvey in the way he steps and breaks the tackle and breaks the line

Re: Ryan Byrnes
He got caught a few times taking the game on.
I don’t mind that because no risk, no reward.
He wasn’t penalised but is it a concern?

But plenty to like

Re: Ryan Byrnes
He looks a quality player and is not frightened to take the game on which is what I really like. He has a big future ahead...

Re: Ryan Byrnes
Common sense draftee
Stand out midfielder at Sandy Dragons (captain I believe)
Slider at pick 53 and logical choice, as was Bytel at whatever pick he was
Nice to take the obvious choice
Occam's razor Is often right when it comes to recruiting

Re: Ryan Byrnes
He will never get a rising star nod. He plays for St Kilda which has failed to recruit and develop young talent in recent seasons. Apparently.
Bad news there for Ryan, Leo and Max. I am certain Tom Highmore couldn't care less if he is to old!

Re: Ryan Byrnes
Not quick, but doesn’t matter because he runs straight at the goals and takes the game on, which is more important

Re: Ryan Byrnes
His first instinct is to get on the move once he has won possession, nearly every time he took the ball against the Pies he takes a step and launches, his disposal is good, I think the problem is his teammates haven't worked him out yet and his disposal, many times by hand yesterday, caught the reciever off guard. Numourous times it was the look-away handball over the shoulder while on the fly.

Re: Ryan Byrnes
Good signs for the young fella...or should I be saying from the young fella
Anyhow, would be good (for us fans and for his confidence) if the numbskulls at AFL give him the nod this week

Re: Ryan Byrnes
Early in his draft year he was picked to go top ten. By mid year he had slipped to top 15. The attitude of most recruiters was bewildering and shows why they so often get things wrong. They believed that because he was such an uber professional at a young age that he had reached his ceiling of potential. Those words came out of the mouth of Kevin Sheehan in his explanation of why he slid to pick 56.

I think the same logic applied to Higgins toocwrcyn wrote: ↑Mon 05 Jul 2021 8:29am Early in his draft year he was picked to go top ten. By mid year he had slipped to top 15. This is one we got right.
And Bytel needs to come in this week against the Lions if JB is injured.

Could be Bytel, but also Jones at training last week said he would be good to go this weekend (They may wish to be cautious and give him an extra week, or bring him back via Sandi)

Re: Ryan Byrnes
Good pick up
Just starting to feel at home at the level last game.
Will get better.
His instinct to move quickly with the ball is perfect for modern footy.
Actually has really good vision and can kick it....sometimes his handballs are a bit ambitious and sells teammates into trouble, but he can work on that

Re: Ryan Byrnes
If we have to travel to Qld to play Brisbane I would prefer to get another game into Bytel and keep him in the side until the end of the season barring injury - I believe he's best 22 now, and traveling on a plane before and after games couldn't be the best preparation for Jones to get back to playing again.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Mon 05 Jul 2021 1:55pmsamuraisaint wrote: ↑Mon 05 Jul 2021 12:36pm This is one we got right.

Re: Ryan Byrnes
Bytel doesn’t deserve a game - on form
Connolly should be omitted
Zac Jones if fit should come in
I’m not about gifting games at the top level.

Like he starts in the middle as it gives us a difference in speed instead of inside slower mids- Ross, Steele, Crouch, Dunstan
