Re: Super Astronomical game this week
Last Chance Saloon !!
Lose this and the season is done (barely has a pulse now)!
Win this and we go into the bye at 6-7. Not great, but at least with our destiny still in our hands.....

Re: Super Astronomical game this week
Absolutely there is!! Starting with this week!!
And more than that, we are the walking wounded!! If we can get up this week with half the team in the rehab room, or sticky-taped together to get through the game, how massive will that be!!!
We've got school boys and VFL players pulling on the boots so we can field a team and keep a pulse in our season!!
It doesn't get any hugerer than that !!

Re: Super Astronomical game this week
Mathematically its still a pissibility (sic) - even less of a possibility and more of a pissibility than last week. Which makes it HUGE in the context of our season.

Re: Super Astronomical game this week
I think our season was well and truly over after our 3rd 80 point loss for the season, just playing for pride, and future spots on the list, now.
Should we start thinking of "playing the kids" and "managing some injuries" for the rest of the season? Which is definitely different from tanking...

Will determine where our first draft pick is.

I hope we don't get belted by the Crows, the bleating afterwards would be unprecedented.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Super Astronomical game this week
So seeing a new star?
You must mean in terms of what draft pick we get.
Yes I agree this game could influence our final ladder position by a few places., and those few places could be difference in getting a really good players vs just a good player.
Our possible first pick range is Pick 3 to Pick 8.

Well, it appears that we don't have any choice but to play the kids as we are struggling to fill holes.The_Dud wrote: ↑Thu 10 Jun 2021 12:26pm I think our season was well and truly over after our 3rd 80 point loss for the season, just playing for pride, and future spots on the list, now.

Apart from Hanners we should get a couple back after the bye, but I am not holding my breath for RoMa and Jones, I think they'll be out for a while longer.
As for managing injuries, I don't think it is really likely that we'll see many of our injured list back in 2021. Some of them seem to be long term now (Kent, Jones, etc) and if we lose to the Crows on Saturday, a lot of them are going to need to start preparing for an early start to the 2022 pre-season, because we're running out of weeks in this one to settle a team lineup.
Your friendly neighbourhood samurai.

Re: Super Astronomical game this week
Mr Grambeau,
Have an honest think about the skill and other markers (or lack of) of our esteemed and brave gladiators.
-Effort? When their collective minds are switched on and hungry, bloody oath. Like games vs Cats n Swans.
- Precision? Not really. Miss targets by hand and foot.
- Ability to win a contest? Sure, can win more than they lose, so positive here
- after winning a clearance, ability to feed it out to a linkman to begin a scoring chain?
...see above re 'precision'
- Goal accuracy? Again, 'precision' beckons
- ability to control a game and dictate terms? Depending on precision, ability to maintain possession, etc...
Hmm
