Football Dept Review Needed
We all put our hard earned into this rabble and for years we’ve had nothing but amateur hour.
It’s time for a full football dept review - we need to look at everything from list, coaching panel ,recruiting, development to administration. The place is rotten tobb no the core and we are carrying some duds and not just players.
The list?? More holes than Swiss cheese - severely overrating many but the usual flog apologists will be along soon to tell we don’t need to move players on that we are ok cause they’re all “our boys”!!
Wake the **** up - we are a laughing stock.
The only time we were the hunter with serious premiership hopes was ironically under a hard ass in Lyon. We’ve lost our way and become too nice.
Has to be a review - 3 or 4 12-17 goal smashing in 1 season NO OTHER side who is supposedly full of talent is delivering that.

Another review?
I thought they had one at the end of 2019.
I guess it's time for another one.

I want a review of that review
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

Clearly we need to get some new assistants
And we need to clean out the dead wood and go back to the draft and hopefully pick up some good kids .

Yes, a review is urgently needed. I'm quite sure if SEEK functioned like the St Kilda football club is at present, it would be worthless...
Top to Bottom, every department & every player, every contract needs to be assessed.

Re: Football Dept Review Needed
Surely Ce an independent review would be a decent Board decision???? You just can’t allow these beltings this season and how far backwards we’ve gone and not ask the question??mr six o'clock wrote: ↑Sat 22 May 2021 11:45pm Clearly we need to get some new assistants

Turnover of personnel and total rebuild required immediately.
First on the agenda would be to clear out the gamblers in the recruiting department. The duds who take the long odds on busted players, smokies and high-priced rejects, all for the potential buzz of landing a bargain.

Football department is fine, probably the best we have ever had.
We have 10-15guys on our list that are just not great players or not even playing. Makes it tough.

Re: Football Dept Review Needed
No need for a review. Problems are obvious. Sexton and some 10 players will go by next season. No more humouring Hannebery. Play any guys in VFL that have a pulse. Joyce has to be given a credible run at it. The usual suspects: Butler, Lonie, Webster, Frawley, McKernan maybe Higgins and probably Hill have no role in the future.

Well its hard to argue they would be missed. I hope team % is their #1 KPI, not a neat spreadsheet of the salary cap budget, which I am sure adds to the penny. Price of everything, value of nothing.

Re: Football Dept Review Needed
Ratten is too nice and the players are taking advantage of him and his softly, softly approach to the favoured few leads to apathy in the playing group and despondency for players languishing in the seconds. At the risk of getting belted he’s better off playing blokes perhaps less skilled, but with a sense of team spirit. It can’t be worse than the rubbish dished up tonight.Teflon wrote: ↑Sat 22 May 2021 11:16pm We all put our hard earned into this rabble and for years we’ve had nothing but amateur hour.

Re: Football Dept Review Needed
I'm going to be honest and say that I don't watch Sandringham at all. I find it depressing and I disagree with the alignment. I don't think it has borne fruit and the club need to seriously review this. A lot of talent has come and gone since 2012 and I believe it is the management of our reserves team which bears a lot of responsibility for this. I am very concerned that very good players go back to Sandringham and flounder to be honest. They should be dominating against opposition journeymen.
Next week is the club's Waterloo. If North beat us as they have so often this past ten years then yes, we will need to radically turn the list over. We won a final last year which was a great effort and I commend the club for the way that we handled the hub situation, but the games against Essendon, Richmond and last night were uncompetitive performances and the last two matches have seen us unable to kick more than 5 goals, with the week before against the Suns that not much better. However, even taking into consideration our injury list (which isn't the largest in the AFL by any means) last night was a real 1979 job.
Personally I don't think we can make wholesale changes even if we wanted to. The next three weeks are all winnable matches against opposition we would have penciled in as wins at the beginning of the season. North and the Swans at home, and a match in Cairns against the Crows. Then the club have a bye. I say we go all out to win those and then reset during the bye.

Place stinks from coaching to list to development we are not a serious organisation now with one of the oldest lists getting around and nothing coming through
We are in a bad way
Yes we have some core...few stars... horrible place
Clean out in multiple areas is required
Nit interested in next 3 games against lesser sides we ought to be aiming to play with big boys
Dogs haven’t even played their no 1 pick yet!!

Re: Football Dept Review Needed
Absolutely correct. They give up on Hind recently (who I thought had decent upside) yet extended the contract of Kent, who unfortunately is a spud and offers nothing. Now look at Melbourne compared with us. The recruitment and management of our club is a disgrace. Hickey and Bruce would be very handy now but we have to now settle on McKernan, Hunter, Frawley, Hannebury (luckiest AFL player on any list in the comp!) and of course Hill, who focused on money before anything else. What would Hill care about now anyway? He has premiership medallions already locked away in his safekeep and future memorabilia, when he reflects on his career. The others were discards, where our imbecile recruiters thought would take us to the next level!
Premierships are won by recruiting young talent wisely and nurturing this talent. Sadly we have failed dismally here since 2011. I place the main blame for our disgraceful position on our recruiters and football department. Lethlean's appointment for me, having a knowledge of how he operates, was the beginning of a bad feeling and it's vindicated now.

Re: Football Dept Review Needed
I place a lot of the blame at the coach. Still bombing long into F50, no stoppage structures, no quick ball movement plan, no centre clearance strategy and no visible F50 plan to open up space for forwards to lead into.
Ratts mentioned going to the VFL to boost stocks. Hoping that includes him.
