He played little league with Sinclair.

Then we have to nail a mid range 1st round draft pick and invest 4 to 8 years of development. None of that being our strong suit.

Re: North into Billings
All three plus others from then have gone on to play AFL..
Jack convinced St Kilda to draft Sinclair. All three are mates.
But the two Jacks' have played a lot more sport together as in addition to their shared AFL career, both went to Scotch whereas Luke went to Trinity. At Scotch both Jacks were in the Football 1sts as well as both being in the 1st XI Cricket team . Billings as Captain.
All three played at the Oakleigh Chargers.
I know that all three still socialised together while at Scotch/Trinity as they were in my daughter's peripheral social circle (ie they had/have overlapping close friends) and so were commonly at the same social gatherings.
Hugh Beasley, Jack Billings, Luke McDonald and Jack Sinclair - Kew Comets' band of brothers
LUKE McDonald played in the ruck, ran with the ball and had a raking left foot. Jack Billings and Jack Sinclair swapped from the midfield to half-forward, and Jay Kennedy-Harris stayed close to goal, roving packs at top pace. Hugh Beasley was generally stationed at centre-half back, but could be swung forward when needed.
Even though the Kew Comets didn't win the under-14s premiership in Melbourne's Yarra Junior Football League in 2009, the junior club can look back at its talented team with pride. Few local clubs can lay claim to producing five players presently in the AFL, let alone all five coming from the same team in an age group where dreams of bigger things were only just taking shape.

Re: North into Billings
Saw this on BF comparing Billings to other match winners ..it really sums it up for me...
*****************
Because they are match winners offensively which is what Billings is supposed to be - he was last week.
Yet tonight he had no impact offensively and people sit there saying he was our third best player because he quelled Issac smith.
The point of my posts in the last 24 hours is that the potential draft pick and his salary can be better used. Billings is decent - he isn’t a gun.
I don’t say it because I hate him. He actually is my favourite player to watch. But as a fan who wants to win a flag - he won’t get us there. He consistently doesn’t impact when we play the better sides.

Re: North into Billings
As a medium forward/winger he has good numbers
He’s not meant to be an Ollie Wines or Jack Steele, he’s not a midfielder
He is very good in his role

We would get a draft pick...a pig in a poke for a former no 3 pick and a good one at that.

Re: North into Billings
His stats are only useful forward of centre
Cheap dinky kicks behind centre useless to us
He goes missing against better sides too often
Last week he impacted got forward of centre and set up/hit scoreboard
Last night nowhere near damaging
He can rack up 30 stats and leave you wondering if he’s playing
You’re right he’s no mid
Use the value (while he has some) get a mid
Bombers want him???? Merret thanks,..
You’ve seen Billings best that’s it - we ought to be about building a side who can seriously challenge
Gotta give to get quality

Point is this - try keep up
We have an ok pick 3 a nice little player on his day
We need midfielder A grade quality
IF nice little pick 3 player can help u do that then u do it
Pretending this list with so many carried players whose skill levels are ordinary is dreamland
I’m after a friggin flag not nice little players on their day

Re: North into Billings
Agree, Billings can't set them up and finish them. He was very good last night taking the ball out of defence and linking through centre-field play. Seems to be covering a lot of ground too. We will be lucky if he re-signs.
