Lonie back in so 3 small forwards again hasn't worked this year & I doubt it will tomorrow night . Coffield & Joyce stiff seems a bit heavy handed IMO

Re: Coffield Jones Joyce Wood for Frawley Highmore Ross Lonie
Coffield has been playing poorly all year and had an absolute shocker against GCS. It's a good move he needs to go back and work on his fitness, he is running up and down on the spot this year. He gets exposed for a lack of speed constantly.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Thu 13 May 2021 7:26pm Coffield Jones Joyce Wood for Frawley Highmore Ross Lonie

Highmore is not quick also, but at least he is going to give us the intercept marking option.
Jones is a huge loss for us! My tip is a 75 point hiding...

Re: Coffield Jones Joyce Wood for Frawley Highmore Ross Lonie
I remember thinking when Coffield went down after that supposed bump he got against GC that he actually just looked like he was dead tired and needed a sit down or he'd collapse.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Thu 13 May 2021 8:09pmCoffield has been playing poorly all year and had an absolute shocker against GCS. Something fishy going on with fitness down at Moorabbin.

Over the years the Cats have been vulnerable to small forwards, including against the Saints.bangaulegend wrote: ↑Thu 13 May 2021 7:30pm Lonie back in so 3 small forwards again hasn't worked this year & I doubt it will tomorrow night .
Hopefully too it is a sign that we intend to not just kick it to Stewart (King) all game.

Whilst Coff hasn’t been great I find his omission somewhat baffling. Glad to see Highmore in but surely coff offers more to the team than Lonie / three small forwards?

Re: Coffield Jones Joyce Wood for Frawley Highmore Ross Lonie
We have no option to cupboard is bare. Our injuries have really exposed our lack of depth and quality on the list.
Kent is in poor form and coming back from concussion.
Dunstan not AFL standard.
McKenzie recovering from calf injury.
Woods not AFL standard, he was a terrible pick up
Hunter not AFL standard a disgraceful pick up.
Alabakis is not even VFL standard.
Clavarino will never be AFL standard.
Joyce obviously not trusted.
Connolly is being developed as a HBF, the only player with a future.
Allison has time on his side, but hasnt shown anything as yet.
That's 25% of our list which arent going it make it at AFL level. That spells continued and poor recruiting over a number of years. Surely in 8 or 9 opportunities a club would have one decent player, but it's not the case at St Kilda.

Well, looks like Dunstan's papers are well and truly stamped. Is he a worse player in any position than Lonie. Apparently, and am surprised and disappointed. Another low draft pick has proven wasted. Can only hope Lonie gets a few kicks that he earns himself. Really leaves King exposed as they will double team and leave Lonie to do whatever he does. Kick a few Jack, show them you are not to be trifled with.

Re: Coffield Jones Joyce Wood for Frawley Highmore Ross Lonie
Unless he’s sore, the Coffield decision is baffling.
His year is on par with another player who is paid a lot more money but is apparently untouchable.
What kind of message is being sent?

The highlighted area, yes! But still there are those salivating at the idea of a mid first rounder for Billings. Poor bugger was pole-axed while chasing down an opponent just before half-time last week. They mustn't have shown that on your radio.

Disappointed for Joyce. This was an opportunity for him for him to show his mettle against a quality opponent in a game where the defence is likely to be under serious pressure at times. Would have liked for him to be granted that opportunity

The half back line was loose as hell last week- the GC half forwards were on their own a lot and were able setup easily. Coff was caught napping a bit.

CouldnT McKernan plug a hole and stand one of the Geelong talks, or offer an option forward?
Carlisle is injured I presume.

Weird selection. Seems like a bad idea to unsettle the defence to this extent - particularly to bring in 2 players with a total of 2 games played for the club between them. And we looked way better with just 2 small forwards

There's 8 potential delistings at years end right there, not sure they'll all be cut, Carlisle and McKernan might not be there in 2022 either.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Thu 13 May 2021 8:44pmWe have no option to cupboard is bare. Tough caper, AFL.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?
