Out of interest, how did Joyce do?
Wasn’t able to watch the game closely.
Obviously he’s far from the reason we lost but given that he’s playing for his career... how did ppl think he did?

If Joyce did a decent job, that’s the best news to come out of the weekend for mine.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

I didn’t really notice him.
I saw one terrible defensive effort where he could have done better.
He’s not the future for mine.

I watched the game IMO wasn't great but not pathetic like Carlisle so hard to gauge his performance in such a substandard overall effort but If we are relying on Joyce to be our saviour then heaven help us .

Re: Out of interest, how did Joyce do?
He fumbled and looked out of his depth. The thing that probably gives him a lifeline is he had about 19 other teammates that were also really poor and the well is dry.
I watched him for a bit in the replay (yes that's right I watched the car crash again) and he doesn't take the ball cleanly on more that one occasion, same DMac and for fringe players when you get your hard earned opportunity you need to take it instantly. Against good sides that are clear top 4, you can't afford not to take clean ball every time, it's a turnover and goal too often to have fumblers in your side.
I'm viewing our current train wreck through the lenses of believing we were a top 4 side only 5 weeks ago, 5 weeks ago and the quality of player's required to make top 4 sides and I'm afraid I find it impossible to see Joyce making the grade.
A slight thread drift if I may, I was wrapped with DMacs game against the WCE but I'm afraid it was a performance rarer than than Haley's Comet. Same as Joyce just fumbles, can't take clean ball and disposal is erratic.

Just making up for all the games he didn’t watch last season!

Re: Out of interest, how did Joyce do?
Vortex said Dmack was great against WCE, but was all at sea against Power.
This is why Dmac has played 55 games in what, 7 yrs?
He played out of his skin against WCE, but his usual standard is purely VFL or maybe EDFL standard.
Giving him a contract is one of the most bizarre decisions ever.

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Re: Out of interest, how did Joyce do?
Joyce's game was somewhere between DMac's & Carlisle's, somewhere between goodish & woeful. Not our future, sadly too much of our present & immediate past.

Re: Out of interest, how did Joyce do?
I don't see what his strengths are at AFL level. He's an okay size, decent enough athlete and his skills aren't quite the worst in the team but his reading of the play is quite bad. Certainly saw more in Logan Austin than Joyce. Probably even saw more from Marsh

Re: Out of interest, how did Joyce do?
Joyce Highlights:
He did a Van Damme kick to an opponent's head
He cooked a lovely 4 minute omelet on a camp stove
He gave a 15 minute zoom chat on grooming labradoodles
He played some average footy
