Whilst his kicking for goal is very hit and miss... personally currently have no concerns about Max at all

Shows all the hallmarks you’d want of a promising young forward.

Unsurprisingly... he looks more dangerous when the Saints have a run on

If he ever starts watching Jack Reiwoldt and how he leads up at the ball he'll be unstoppable with his pace, athleticism and height.

I’m sure they are on to it but at the end of the day, it’s all up to Max.

Yep good call
It’s why the loss of Marshall/Ryder can’t be underestimated
One of them goes forward gives us a stay at home option and Max a chance to lead up
Only problem is lack of quality ball coming out of our midfield we lack polished finishers ...yes Hill but thin after that
Membrey then becomes 3rd option which is where he is best suited.

Needs to stick the chest out and start owning the forward line

Reiwoldt, Brown, Fevola, Lloyd, Tredrea style

And they did it from a young age

I've wondered if he's carrying a bit of a niggle injury? I have said a few times it almost seems he's limping - like his right knee is sore?
Clubs never reveal the true injury tolls on players in season. Anyone else see this?
Yes I have noticed it too. His walk in at shots on goals looks as though he is feeling weak. Wondered about it myself. At least it can be corrected. He has show he can basically kick straight.

Having confidence in himself is infectious. If he's getting a little upset it can affect his team mates. It also has an inverse relationship with his opponents.

I've seen Max bow his head and he hunches his shoulders when he misses a shot at goal and he gets really down on himself

That's not someone with self belief. That's someone with self doubt. Something needs to click for that attitude to change

Whether it's his routine, his preparation, or something outside of his work/profession (e.g. in his personal life) then only the coaches and his mentors will know...and sort out

I think Max will get a hold of the Port backline. Port doesn't have anyone that has the size or speed to go with him so he just needs to back himself.

Interesting comments.

There is no doubt these guys strutted their stuff but all had either break out games or seasons where the self belief kicked in and that effectively turned into the arrogance.

I saw Carey at a luncheon and he said it was a state rep match, he was either playing for the Allies or SA (can't recall) and he played really well against the VICs and said to himself, I can do this at this level. His second season as a 19 YO was extraordinary.

Lloyd's story is he was being bullied by the seasoned defenders and the advice from senior team mates was he had to make a physical statement and stand up for himself.

I think Max needs his break out game where he dominates and not just for a 1/4.
I believe it is self belief. He lacks nothing physically and has the heart for the contest.
Maybe he needs to crunch a few backmen sitting in the whole and sit a couple on their arse when they get in his way.

I don't think the comparison to Ben is fair right now given the knee and Ben's season ahead of Max.
Maybe next year will be more reflective of their development.

When it comes together look out.

King didn't look like a conundrum tonight, he just didn't look like it, full stop.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

2 kicks
5 handballs
1 mark
zero tackles (ok he's a tall guy so maybe tackling aint his thing)

If we got both of them. What would you do with them?

They are pretty inflexible with their positioning at the moment.
Neither have the tank for CHF
Maybe one could be developed into a Ruck

Two tall Full Forwards would be a hand full in the Dome. Hindrance on the G on a wet windy day.
