Demons beat Tigers by 34 in the wet
quick, before the mods move this to Opposition Forum
Petracca was BOG with 38 touches, 10 clearances, one goal
Hibberd frustrated Dusty, holding him to 8 touches, before Dusty copped a heavy knock and was subbed out with concussion.
News said it's Demons' first 6-0 since 1965.
Does anyone believe we'll get our next cup before the Dees?
I'll wait...

Eagles and Tigers both suffered heavy defeats after playing StKilda.
Of course, we gave the Tigers a lesson in how to look hopeless last week!

The Dogs will get their next flag well before we do
We're 10 yrs off, if at all
2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Richmond did what we did last week.
Put in about 40 minutes work and checked out.
They just stopped doing the richmond things that they have done for the past five years.
Melbourne are good. Very good. They are still very likely to stuff it up. Happy for their supporters to be up and about. They are just as broken as we are. They have very, very little trust.

Re: Demons beat Tigers by 34 in the wet
I remember 1965 really well. The Dees had won the premiership in 64 and were travelling on top of the world in 65, having won 6 in a row, same as this year. Thought their s*** smelt like roses, just like this year. Round 7 was to be played at the MCG against the Saints, an easy kill for them, or so they thought.
I flew over from Tasmania in a DC3 cargo plane sitting on the jump seat.
When the game started, to everyone's surprise , Howell lined up at full-forward and Bob Murray at full-back. We thrashed them with Howell staring and Murray going on to be one of our all time fullbacks. He was recruited as a forward.
Saints went on to play in the premiership that year while the Dees were banished to the wilderness for decades.
f****** loved it.

Melbourne are a complete, balanced and skilled team.
Just shows what quality, targeted recruiting can bring about.
Same coach (and good on them for sticking with the same coach), but different and improved mix of cattle, complementing the core group of players they had to work with - it's all about smart recruiting. It really does come down to that.
We need to poach and recruit the best recruiters - this is what we need to aspire to ... and stop Lyonising (sic) and feting the feckless (good-for-nothing) coaches.

Melbourne look great.
They play exciting and entertaining footy.
They played quicker and cleaner in the wet than we do most of the time under the roof.
Says a lot.

They also have Mark Williams, how much credit should he get ?samoht wrote: ↑Sun 25 Apr 2021 12:24pm Melbourne are a complete, balanced and skilled team.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Well, seeing how the saints didn't rate the dees coaching panel before Williams and our cast off arrived, I would say, heaps.Wayne42 wrote: ↑Sun 25 Apr 2021 3:44pmThey also have Mark Williams, how much credit should he get ?samoht wrote: ↑Sun 25 Apr 2021 12:24pm Melbourne are a complete, balanced and skilled team.

Re: Demons beat Tigers by 34 in the wet
Not drafting Petracca was by far our biggest draft bungle of the last 20 years.
I don’t buy into the Bont v JB discussion as Bont was not considered a top 3 pick in his draft year.
Put Petracca into our team and we probably become a 3-4 goal better team straight out the gate.

Re: Demons beat Tigers by 34 in the wet
Two things: genius of Dees new Director Football - Richard Allanson or something* - came from a very good club; and Max Gawn. Also, fretting about Dees and Tigers may seem odd on a Saints forum. Is there a chance of moving on from the selection of Paddy M - wasn't that about 7 years ago and done with informed consent. Hardly relevant now except as a historical footnote? We finished above Melbourne last season then injuries, no need to beat ourselves up with what ifs.
* school boy attempt at satire - there is really only one reason Melbourne are doing so well, MG and a fit list.
