I hope he has the gumption to go to Gallagher and renegotiate his over inflated salary payments. Its looking like 13 games in 3 seasons its comical.

Re: F@ck Hannebery
Come on st.byron, you forget the following attributed to Dan:
- other recruits have come because of him.
- he sets the training standards
- he's a leader & a mentor
- we had to pay the salary cap anyway
- it was front end loaded contract
- he's not on $800K
- Sydney gave us Jones as part of the Hannebery deal
- he's an assistant coach
- his input cannot be measured on games played
- It's round 1, don't panic
He's been a fantastic recruit for the club

Great value at around $150,000 per game.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Thu 08 Apr 2021 4:19pmCome on st.byron, you forget the following attributed to Dan:

Re: F@ck Hannebery
Should Lethlean be investigated in regards to this deal?
Looks like jobs(?) for the boys, or is he getting a kickback from Hannebery or Sydney?

Lethlean and Finnis will be preying that Ratts can deliver a half decent year in 2021
Unless you recruit and develop your own, you can’t win premierships. It’s a lot easier to sacrifice the future and try and hover around 6-12 on the ladder for a few years rather than go the slow and steady climb with youth. I don’t think a handful of GOP’s are going to win you a flag. It’s not like we got A graders like Jeremy Cameron, Shaun Higgins and Isaac Smith.
Most of these knob administrators and managers who have come to St Kilda are only interested in extending their personal careers or if they’ve been here for a while (and especially the ones that were part of the disastrous season of 2018) all they want is to save their own job with short term fixes.
The other problem with bringing in ready made recycled players might be that your youth feels like they are being neglected. I posted this in the Melbourne game day thread. I know they also have a few players from other clubs, but it’s basically their home grown youth that is the core of the team and the basis to their success a few years back and possibly their rise again this year

I mentioned the Swans, because they are brilliant at bringing in youth. We were very fortunate to gain the services of a quality footballer that they developed in Tim Membrey. From their academy to their general development program, we need to mimic and replicate and perhaps even target some of their staff.

Re: F@ck Hannebery
I think after Hannabery and Freeman adventures it needs to be in our constitution that you can't trade for players that other better resourced clubs couldn't get right,
At the very outside if you feel like gambling it must be on one year contracts with single year triggers.
At the moment we are a joke, and I'm not sure it can be only neglect!

Re: F@ck Hannebery
Maybe Lethlean and Finnis couldn’t give a stuff if we never win a premiership. As long as the membership grows and the team is fair to average, and as long as the sponsorship dollars roll in they couldn’t give a shitt

Re: F@ck Hannebery
We've had some good recruiting decisions in recent years but offset by some really dumb decisions that were so predictable...
Exhibit A : everyone knew he was done in his last year at Sydney but we offered him top dollar - how Shitney must have laughed!
Exhibit B : the highly resourced Collingwood medical team tried everything to get Freeman's hammies right but they couldn't- yet StK with our under resourced medical team thought they coukd - how Collingwood must have laughed!
Exhibit C : we invested a number one pick on an insulin dependent diabetic who could never ever achieve the elite fitness levels required for him to display the form necessary to justify that pick. Yes it was concussion that ultimately claimed him but he never showed anything to justify pick 1.
Foolish move!
Just think what else we could have done with those 3 picks/salary cap space - well perhaps best not to.

the fact that we got a player of noted ability but turned out we procured a long term member of our injury list. soooooo .. too good to be true.whiskers3614 wrote: ↑Thu 08 Apr 2021 6:56pmWhich part was too good to be true? The Fireman wrote: ↑Thu 08 Apr 2021 6:37pm was too good to be true........we have to cut our losses.

Rumour is he is going to have both legs amputated and replaced with more reliable artificial limbs.

Re: F@ck Hannebery
Lethlean is also in negotiations with Oscar Pretorius's manager (and the parole board of South Africa). Apparently the AFL is seriously considering the possibility of allowing Oscar to play with an AFL franchise to boost it's overseas viewing audience.
There's some paperwork that needs to be completed along with some specially designed skin coloured sock coverings for the entire section of his blades. The AFLPA are testing the gel cushioned sleeve sock to ensure that no one gets concussed from direct impact and to prevent any accidents where the sleeve slips off and the blade cuts some one's head off

Re: F@ck Hannebery
Was never going to work with Hannebery just let him go and create space on out list for someone who we can get on the park.
Sydney could not get him out the door quick enough.
Another great recruiting coup by the Saints
Well done Zig and Zag and the recruiting team.
I am sure there will be more to come .

Re: F@ck Hannebery
I think that says everything about our supposed wealth of newfound depth. Remember that game at Marvel a couple of years back where poor Dan was asked to man Charlie Cameron. Well - yeah - he was asked to man Wolla last Sat arvo. With the same outcome.saynta wrote: ↑Wed 07 Apr 2021 5:45pmFunny , I thought McKenzie got picked for a game last week.samoht wrote: ↑Wed 07 Apr 2021 4:42pmIf what you pointed out is not enough (as missed opportunities), we also have recruited half a dozen average small forwards (Kent can't get a game), half a dozen resurrected and project ruckmen (with the addition of Alabakis, McKernan and Hunter), half a dozen average half back flankers (McKenzie is surplass to our needs and can't get a game), too many inside midfielders (Dunstan, Bytel, Steele and Crouch are all inside types) ... with the result that multiples of mediocre players and players who are surplass to our needs are maxing out our salary cap, when we could have used the same money (or less?) to go after and target 1 or 2 stars in each of the categories and to also add the missing ingredients, the areas we're lacking - e.g., going after 1 or 2 star outside/inside midfielders.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Wed 07 Apr 2021 4:29pm
As with the Ball v Judd
The McEvoy v Rioli
The Riewoldt v Armitage
(current) King v Smith (I personally think we did the right thing now grabbing King, even though I wanted Smith. Would be an even better get if we had Petracca but King was picked because the McCartin selection was so poor!)
Sadly the Petracca selection was the most perplexing of all, recent & past.
The outlier is the Billings v the Bont, that has become a hindsight driven fable.
You only need 2 half back flankers, you only need 1 or 2 good ruckmen, you only need 1 or 2 inside midfielders, 1 or 2 small forwards, etc...
I mean, Savage couldn't even get a game and we let him go.
There's no planning ... our recruiters are just recruiting without thinking.

I thought DMac was a loose man in defence, he didn't seem to have anyone to guard

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Re: F@ck Hannebery
Trust me - he was on Walla at every 6/6/6 stoppage restart. Shown a clean pair of heels at every turn. With no Paton, Highmore, Robbo, Paton - we literally do not have a player on our list other than Dan who can mind the crafty goal sneak type. I shudder to think what Liam Ryan might do to Dmac tomorrow (if he gets another game).MickThomas wrote: ↑Fri 09 Apr 2021 2:00pm Saintmatt said Dan was on Wolla.

Re: F@ck Hannebery
Its past embarrassing. Ultimate insult to DH is that his story is now boring. Go away and stop distracting resources, the overheads to nurse him as well as his salary! Hopefully club does not reimburse for the snags and buns when he hosts able bodied team mates. His agent is a genius, makes the multi million pork barrelling Australians have become desensitized to look value for money.
