"Saints set for AAMI Community Series opener

Jade Gresham will be one of two new faces heading into tomorrow's AAMI Community Series opener against Carlton.
By Chris Nice - 15 hrs ago

St Kilda will field a 26-man side for tomorrow night's AAMI Community Series opener against Carlton, with Jade Gresham one of two new faces from last week's practice match at Arden Street Oval.

The young midfielder last took to the field in Round 11 2020, before stress fractures in his back brought his year to a close.

Ex-Bomber Shaun McKernan will also join the list of newcomers at Marvel Stadium.

McKernan sat out last week's clash against North Melbourne with a rolled ankle, but is primed and ready for his debut outing in St Kilda colours.

Luke Dunstan, Jake Carlisle, Darragh Joyce and Dean Kent have been named as emergencies.

Saints players and officials will wear black armbands in memory of the late Michael Gudinski, who passed away earlier this week.

St Kilda will square off with Carlton on Thursday 4 March at Marvel Stadium, with the opening bounce locked in for 7:10pm.

The only surprise for me is that Daniel McKenzie made the squad ahead of Luke Dunstan and Dean Kent, can't see DanMac making the cut for Rd 1 against GWS.

Dunstan's omission must indicate that he is lowest in pecking order for a spot in the midfield, and may not get a game unless others get injured. That's sad because I have always rated him as a reasonable prospect.

Looking forward to see how Paul Hunter and Shaun McKernan go in the ruck, great opportunity for Hunter to strut his stuff away from Paddy's shadow.....

I hope Jack Bytel has a "blinder" as he is showing great composure under pressure and enormous potential.

Will be interesting to see how Bytel backs up after his impressive first up performances and Webster is another to keep the eye on. Has a lot of fans here Jimmy and if gets close to his potential... would be a huge boon for the back 6

Anyone surprised to see Frawley ahead of Carlisle?

You think it might be pointing to 2021 in general?

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Sending Carslile a message?
Genuinely in front of Carslile?

If Carslile was not ready you'd have though he would not be named as emergency.

Keep in mind it might be a match fitness issue e.g some players need the extra run more than others

our mids may have to work a bit harder without our Rucks, unless of course Hunter and Shaun fire.
