Re: SENs St Kilda 22
How will the co-captain get a game in that team?

About right. Round 1 no Roma, Crouch or Jones. Hannas a chance .
Bytel
Ross or Lonie
McKernan or Woods
Frawley may displace Carlisle if Carlisle is not 100% right.

Ross was very good against the kangaroos especially early . As well, he finished 2020 strongly. Cant see him missing the 22.

Re: SENs St Kilda 22
According to North fans they put up a second-string midfield and they don’t seem the least disappointed with the thrashing that the mighty young(old) Saints pounded them with.
So if Ross impressed it might be subjective ...
As a Melbourne and Hawthorn player, I liked Frawley as a minimalist monster - he looked classy rather than clumsy..I suppose he doesn’t do that lateral intercept like Carlisle as well but if he found a place in the 22 I wouldn’t mind.

Re: SENs St Kilda 22
That's a tough side to crack into.
Ross and Bytel should play round 1 with injuries/suspension. Not sure how to cover for Marshall.
Form and matchups will play a huge part in selection throughout the year. I'd like to see Dunstan get a chance to play in this side to prove himself.

Re: SENs St Kilda 22
Leaving Ross out is weird. Ross started in the centre most of last year. He started with Crouch and Steele against North. My guess is that either Clark or Higgins will start with Seb and Steele round 1. I don't see why Hannebery or Jones would be ahead of him in the pecking order either. I get that some people don't like him, but he's going to play.
Yeah nah pleasing positive

Nothing would give me more satisfaction than to see Dunny crack into this side for no other reason than he will have earnt it.Otiman wrote: ↑Fri 26 Feb 2021 10:01pm That's a tough side to crack into.

Re: SENs St Kilda 22
The nuffies on SEN have been reading too much Saintsational if they are leaving Ross out of the 22.shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Fri 26 Feb 2021 7:09pm FB: Callum Wilkie, Dougal Howard, Jimmy Webster

Ross picked before Sinclair, Long, Higgins, Webster, Hannebery as starters in my opinion.
The coaches may also have him in front of Battle, Clark, Coffield, Butler, Jones, Gresham, Billings and Hill for team balance and performance all we know.
I have no idea other than Seb is way underrated on this site.
He's in the leadership group so you'd assume he's best 18, but on the other side of the coin with that argument is Geary now best 22?

Re: SENs St Kilda 22
Ross starts on the ground. Late last year, Ratts did what Ratts does best. Found the ideal role for a player. Seb was reborn as a run with midfielder who could win his own ball. He played some very good footy in that role.
If Seb can get the best out of his considerable ability, and can play this role well, another piece of the Ratten premiership puzzle will be put in place.
To the Seb knockers, he's in the leadership group and was favourite to take over the captaincy from Gears until the man of Steele emerged. Being in the leadership group, he's obviously rated by coaches and players alike. That'll do me for a recommendation. The people who really are in the know. On the other hand, how well are we going if a player of his calibre is considered to be on the "fringe".
We have some serious depth for the first time in fifteen years.

Warning...speaking a lot of crap but as an expert in sport, that is what I do...
It’s just an idealized team.
Ross will be in but I haven’t forgotten the West Coast game.
Hanners or Zac will be hamstrung often enough.
I doubt Webster will get a game based on last year.
Sincs is showing class and value.
Higgins or Butler will have form slips and Lonie will come in. (Remember Dan had some patchy form in ‘20...and his success was over hyped I think...bit like Kent and Parker in ‘19?
Dunstan is an interesting one. He is tough in the crutches...Is he better than Zac? A fit Zac gets the nod, but with 5 hamstrings in 3 years? I see Dunners back in the team too...but not at the expense of Ross. Caveat...Dunners might get a new role? A hard tagged? That could push him forward in the cue.
Marshall is out for the foreseeable. Ben Long is still a raw live wire. Tim Membrey was barely keeping his head above water for patches of last season. Seeing forwards being told to run to the back pocket makes it hard, but he will stay, but if things get terrible, Mason Wood.
It to mention suspensions and injuries.
Our injury suspects top five
5. Carlisle
4. Crouch
3. Ryder
2. Jones
1. Hanners
Special mentions: Marshall, Battle
Our get suspended suspect top five
5. Butler
4. Crouch
3. Membrey
2. Carlisle
1. Long
Special Mention: Max King*

Re: SENs St Kilda 22
Dunstan is nowhere near as effective as Zac Jones
One is an explosive runner!
One couldn’t run out of sight in a dark night!
Zac is an average kick
Luke is below average
Both good clearance Mids
