Re: Matching our midfield to others
Our midfield stacks up well. Our recent games against Richmond have been won or lost in defence. We have scored easily or they have scored easily. Crouch and Gresham could easily have made a winning impact in last year's final.cwrcyn wrote: ↑Wed 23 Dec 2020 9:59am Okay I'll start with Richmond....feel free to do a match against another midfield

It is imperativee that King improves and Carlisle or Frawley can negate or at least limit the thug that they have at full forward.

Can't say Stack for the moment. Cancelled, persona non grata incustodius. Sydney is in strife too.

Re: Matching our midfield to others
THE most significant comparison between Richmond and St. Kilda is the potential upside.
You wouldn't think Richmond will get any better (bloody hope not anyway!), St. Kilda on the other hand has numerous players that will be on an upward trajectory in the coming years.
If you add Carlysle, Ryder, Long, Couch, and Higgins to our losing semi final side, it would certainly have been a much, much closer result.
Add to that the improvement of King, Coff, Clark, Bytel, Marshall, Gresh, etc....look out!!

And when we beat them earlier in the year both Carlisle and Long were in the BROWNLOW votes, so in the best 3 on the ground in the opinion of the Umpires.
Ryder missed both games v Richmond.

One team has a player who by himself can turn a game by himself, and is also probably the best performed finals player ever....and the other does not.
That same player if he had of been swapped with Dangerfield may have seen the Cats win that game.
Apart from that detail, we are competitive.
We need our mids to be at their best including Hill whom you did not include.

Yeah Hill is missing from the OPs list and so I think with the exception of Dusty who cannot be matched up against, we bat nice and deep.
We are 18 dollars for the flag, get on them now and hope like hell Covid doesn't derail the 2021 comp.

Re: Matching our midfield to others
Ross and Wilkie do a fair job on Dusty. Your better off not hard tagging Dusty. You've got to cut his supply. Up forward, Wilkie has his measure.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Wed 23 Dec 2020 8:23pmcwrcyn wrote: ↑Wed 23 Dec 2020 9:59am Okay I'll start with Richmond....feel free to do a match against another midfield

He tends to sit on the periphery and doubles back through the congestion. He is just so effective, he's very damaging from the most obscure chances.
