Who are we likely to draft rookie and primary lists
I heard that the club is thinking on re draft Matty parker as a rookie he is still a great player and only 25 but i would hope we go for a few younger guys on the primary and rookie draft.
I know there are some young ruckman and Key Backs out there like Sam Skinner or Zach Sproule who we could rookie list or Oscar Mc Donald on primary/rookie list.

Be happy to have Parker back on our list.Brings a bit of x factor and this past season like many others didnt have the chance to show his wares because of covid lack of games

Re: Who are we likely to draft rookie and primary lists
I actually said this first...
Number 34 strikes again! For number 34! That went down like a Jack Daniels kick...whoops...another 34!
Would be hard to see Marty being higher up on the list than Webster or Roberton..and perhaps a few others...but I just wonder. How does an opposition coach determine a match up for Marty Parker? He is kinda like a wild card?
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Love what matty parker brings to the table is well liked and a fierce competitor and always team first, lets hope he gets redrafted by saints on rookie list.

Re: Who are we likely to draft rookie and primary lists
Our recruiting staff are a lot smarter now so doubt Matty Parker will be high on their list. He does give his all but is not and never will be AFL standard. I would prefer them to redraft Jack Bell who may develop into a good ruckman but I imagine they have a list of players to add to an already improving list and they have a lot more information on the available young talent than us posters on here.

Re: Who are we likely to draft rookie and primary lists
I feel that if they wanted to rookie/redraft Parker, they would have done it already.
Other clubs have backflipped on delisted players, and rookied them after the rule change.
Parker has already re-signed with South Fremantle, that to me is a sign that he won’t be coming back.

I think a few people need to look up the definition of the word "great".

It won't be Matt Parker - he's just re-signed with Sth Fremantle

Re: Who are we likely to draft rookie and primary lists
I don't mind what Matty Parker brings but have a big concern with his consistency.
He showed a bit in his first year but tended to fade badly in the second half of games, not sure if that's fitness, concentration, or both.
Unfortunately, he had an interrupted pre season with an injury, then covid hit.
He played 3 games this year but looked underdone.
A spot on the rookie list just may be a win win!

Re: Who are we likely to draft rookie and primary lists
I don't know his actual name but I know who he is.
His nickname is "Slider".
He will be considered by St Kilda's recruiters as the best available player.
The club will say afterwards "we were pleasantly surprised that "Slider" was still available when it came our turn to pick.
We are excited to have him join the club.
He has tremendous potential and will fit into our list extremely well.
etc
etc
etc"
The recruiters will have a list of players in priority order with Ugly at the top.
As players names are called they will cross them off the list.
Then when it comes to St Kilda's turn they will call the name of "Slider" the guy highest up their list who has yet to be called.
He may be somewhere in the vicinity of their 20th priority but has slid to St Kilda's pick.
Welcome to St Kilda FC "Slider".

Re: Who are we likely to draft rookie and primary lists
Lets hope Adelaide bid for Ugly with their first pick.
Then dogs have to match 3000 points with a 20% discount so 2400 points.
Picks 29, 33, 41, 42, 52, 54 have points 653 + 563 + 412 + 395 + 246 + 220 = 2489 points.
The Bulldogs will have all six of their picks wiped out by matching a first pick for Ugly.
All picks later than 54 will move forward 5 spaces.
PIcks 21, 64, 67 & 71 become 22, 59, 62 & 66 advancing points from 878 + 101+ 69 + 0 = 1048 to 845 + 158 + 123 + 80 = 1206 points
Those last 3 picks now have have points value 361
Bundle all 4 picks together for a club wanting late picks for an academy player and St Kilda could move up to a pick in the late teens on the night not back at about 27.
Picks in mind would be presently 13 to 20
13, 15 & 20 GWS
14 & 16 Collingwood
17 Richmond
18 & 19 Melbourne
Of these the only club with an academy pick is Collingwood - Reef McInnes
If he is named before Collingwood, then Collingwood may want to match but only with pick 14 the would not want to effect pick 16
But that is what would happen if pick 14 did not have enough points attached.
Now assuming the Dogs have queue jumped for Ugly and Port Adelaide for Jones pick 14 and 16 will be 16 and 18
Picks 16 & 18 have 1067 and 985 points.
so if there is a bid for McInnes at pick 10 (1395 points) Collingwood cannot match with their first pick alone.
They may be willing to trade their second pick clear so they can match with their first pick and St Kilda first pick at that time (pick 23 worth 815 points) they would then have all of St Kilda's later picks.
Not that good for Collingwood but if McInnes were called at pick 8 or earlier they may be interested.
Collingwood is looking very exposed presently at pick 14 and 16 with an academy pick.
They should be looking to advance pick 14 ahead of any chance of McInnes being called ahead of their first pick so that only their second pick is necessary.
That means slipping their second pick back or bundling both their picks for a single top 8 pick with Hawthorn, Gold Coast or Essendon.
They may get away with McInnes slipping below both their first and second picks but it is a huge gamble.

Re: Who are we likely to draft rookie and primary lists
Explain this / his "X" factor please. Surely then every player who has actually done bugger all has "X" factor.
I loved Matty's attack on the player and ball but really amounted to very little. If he'd been a U/18 or player without a back story & covered in tatts, then I suspect his "X" would be a "D".
Save the pick for a kid from Vic.

He will be brilliant teamed up with " X factor". Both are unknown quantities at this stage but have enormous potential. I'm both hopeful and excited.ace wrote: ↑Wed 02 Dec 2020 11:16am I don't know his actual name but I know who he is.

The last bloke we had with X factor was Xavier Clarke. He went alright.
