Re: we dodged a bullet - Jack Steven
things are obviously pretty bad for Jack at the moment and was a great servant of the clubs for many years great see all the sympathy and appreciation from saints fans here.

Now an Ex Geelong player.
I can't remember what Bristle used to call Jack in his prime.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: we dodged a bullet - Jack Steven
Obviously a difficult and complex situation but shows for all the AFL, AFLPA and Geelong's nominal commitment to player well being, what ever was really applied has failed - and who knows how hard each really tried - Jack was best served by the Saints and in hindsight he may regret not retiring while wearing our jumper. Good player but rep spoilt. Forever a Saint though, never really a Cat.

Re: we dodged a bullet - Jack Steven
I think in the future he’ll look back at the last few years of his career and realise some very successful times were pissed away due to extremely poor decision making on his part.

A tragedy really. Missed Grand Finals at both ends of his career.

Sad ending for a great Saint & as much as I didn't like the exit & the compensation I still appreciate what he achieved as a Saints player

In another reality he might have been a two time premiership players
Fate is ironic and funny like that sometimes

Are we going to rookie him?
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

Burnt his bridges at two clubs now!

Really sad - there are no winners here. He was a fantastic player in his prime and I as a Saints fan will be forever grateful to him for that. Saved so many games for us, when we weren't so great. Great goal kicker too!

Re: we dodged a bullet - Jack Steven
I've said my piece about Stuv.
I have chatted for hours with him in years past.
I have seen this occur so many times and not just in sport.
I feel lots of empathy & compassion as well as anger.
Lost boys given fame & fortune reap the whirlwind generation after generation.
Sucks.

Could you imagine having had Jack Steven in prime form this year...
We would have made the GF for sure.
Really hate how it’s played out

Re: we dodged a bullet - Jack Steven
Whilst I find it sad I can't say there I feel a great deal of sympathy for Jack.
He has been given great opportunity and has chosen his path.
He came to the club when it was disciplined and successful and he had great leaders and mentors in abundance.
He elected the panacea of moving to Geelong but it seems that it also has not worked out.
You can lead a horse to water....
I hope he goes on to be successful in the next stage of his life.

Don't forget, "The boy from the footballer factory that is the Geelong Falcons, via the Great Ocean Road down at Lorne." You don't know how happy I'll be never to hear BT shout those words again. Now, if he would only stop calling us, "Sang Kilda!"
Good luck, Stuv. You gave us great service and entertained us throughout the Watters and Richardson years, when there was very little to get excited about. I hope you can turn things around.
