Re: HIGGINS DEAL DONE
Despite my nagging concerns for the boy's heath I'm wrapped about this recruit.
If he can add depth to our midfield as well as kick goals then I'm almost inlined to say we have achieved our task of filling the much known and discussed gaps in our midfield stocks.
I've felt that this recruitment period was a crucial and possibly defining period in the clubs history in relation to filling said gaps in the midfield and continuing the upward trajectory to building a sustainable top 4 finals side.
Had we not ticked that box my fear was it would negatively impact that trajectory and possibly put us in a holding pattern for a season or more.
Now all we need is for the boys to get to work and have a successful pre season and dare I say it, a little luck on the injury front.

We need Hanners to have an uninterrupted preseason with no set backs.

Re: HIGGINS DEAL DONE
Don't disagree there. I've always wondered what we would look like as a team if we had a Gresham clone - one who could stay forward and use his natural goal-kicking smarts whilst the other sat under Ryder's leaping feet and burst out the front of stoppages. And now it looks like we may have achieved that reality last night. That Higgins sees himself as a midfielder and wants to play there when it suits us is everything - you simply cannot have too many midfielders in your team. We already know that he can kick goals; now let him loose on-ball.Vortex wrote: ↑Wed 11 Nov 2020 9:10am Despite my nagging concerns for the boy's heath I'm wrapped about this recruit.

And deep down ... he's always been a Saint. Mightn't have counted with Caldwell but, young Snags seems to be a pretty passionate young fella and I can't wait to see his first hello/welcome video to members.

It was exactly what Jaxons posted here earlier. So that will have been the source most likely.

Re: HIGGINS DEAL DONE
Pure guess would be as above and perhaps a trade of first round picks this draft with Tigers.
Seems a very fair deal for us and Tigers given the anxiety around Higgins health.
If he's perfectly healthy a win for us.
Tigers are extremely fair to deal with around their fringe players, seem to genuinely want these guys to have successful careers and get opportunity. I wonder if they will be as gracious once their golden run comes to an end.

Re: HIGGINS DEAL DONE
Personally, I couldn't care less if Hanners only gets wheeled-out for important games and finals from here on in. He was instrumental in the Dogs final and the GWS final round win. He's the class cream on top. Play 1 in 3 or 4 games and I'm just fine with that.

According to this report, the Tiges might be looking for some "catch up" compo after getting shafted for Butler last year.

They couldn’t guarantee him a game. Rated others higher. Too bad for them.

Yeah...the Tigers ‘Won’t get fooled again” I suppose, but meanwhile, they have smalls of the caliber of Shai Bolton, Jason Castagna and Daniel Rioli ...they aren’t exactly paupers.

Re: HIGGINS DEAL DONE
The Higgins deal hasn't been processed through the AFL yet, so it CAN'T be done.
They must still be haggling.
They must still be haggling.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

If we're gonna play that ridiculous game, where's our compo for Dean Polo, Aaron Fiora, Adam Pattison, Robert Powell, Damian Ryan, Jamie Elliott and Justin Plapp?bakes wrote: ↑Wed 11 Nov 2020 12:32pm https://www.sen.com.au/news/2020/11/10/ ... r-higgins/

I don't rate Costanza. He’d be useless in most other teamsshanegrambeau wrote: ↑Wed 11 Nov 2020 12:49pm Yeah...the Tigers ‘Won’t get fooled again” I suppose, but meanwhile, they have smalls of the caliber of Shai Bolton, Jason Castagna and Daniel Rioli ...they aren’t exactly paupers.
He has a few tricks and some height over the small fowards but that's about it.

Just let’s have Shai Bolton....he’s a super star ...and Rioli has some class too.
These stars are the reason we got Butler and now Higgins...and why Richmond have the flag, but we will find a way...!

Yep, still trying to get 5 first rounders for Orazio and split a future 5th rounder to dish out to the Doggies & GWS for Dunkley & Caldwell.

Re: HIGGINS DEAL DONE
Could it be that we are trying to trade out a couple of players in oder to secure a draft pick to satisfy Richmond? For example, would a couple of players to North Melbourne for their second round pick be enough? Looks like there's an impasse at the moment with Richmond wanting something probably between picks 17 and 25. The delay clearly means we don't have the the currency to get Richmond on board.
