FA wages are spread out across the length of the deal so you can't front load them to help out the other club.
Ofer Crouch a 2 year contract at $1m per year. That's it.
But deep down inside he knows that when those 2 years expire he will only get $400k per year for 2 years for his next contract.

Bulldogs seem to be linked to a lot of our players...
Oddly enough, primarily to our under performing ones

The Dullbogs have picks 12, 36, 48, 84. If they want Webster we want pick 36. Then we would have 15, 36, 58, 73, 87.....Nice.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Sun 25 Oct 2020 5:49pmOn the Bulldogs Board on BF a poster has indicated that Dogs are interested in Webster.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Sun 25 Oct 2020 5:11pm https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/web ... 568dw.html

The problem with this time of the year is it's hard to sort out the Bulldogs from the Bulldust until it's all done.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

How does Webster at 27 who has played a handful of games in two years warrant #36 regardless of willing buyer willing seller.
I like Webster as a player, hard as a cats head but he's a shuffle with pick #48 to us giving them back #58 at very best.

if Webster doesn't get over his injuries and becomes a viable player again, he may have to walk away, wherever he's playing.

Re: Webster and Dunstan to Adelaide
From the age article
"However Webster's agent, Peter Lenton of Kapital Sports, said on Sunday that he had not had any contact with Adelaide about Webster and that he expected the Tasmanian backman to remain at Moorabbin in 2021.
"I haven't spoken to Adelaide about Jimmy," Lenton said.
"He's got two years left to run on his contract and while there have been discussions with some clubs, as you would have with any player at this time of year, I expect he'll be at St Kilda next year."
Dunstan, Webster and fellow Saint Dylan Roberton are all contracted for 2021 but the experienced trio has been floated as trade bait after playing just two senior matches between them this year.
Webster, 27, has been limited to just 93 matches in nine years on St Kilda's list, with injuries regularly thwarting his progress. He played the first eight games of 2019 but hasn't appeared at senior level since.
An AFL memo has cast doubt over whether the Crows will receive pick No.2 as compensation for their 2019 best and fairest, with the league stressing that free agency compensation was not designed to fully make up for the loss of a player."
I had a feeling that Gary Lyons was talking s*** as that is what usually comes out of his mouth.

Not sure Webster was out of favor I think he was injured. Worst year to be coming back from a long term injury. Would think he is still in the mix.

Have a squiz at Gags on Saints app.
He said we really tried to get Jimmy into the seniors all year, but it just didn't happen.
I get the impression that he couldn't squeeze out Ben Paton et al.
Our back 6 is pretty well settled, and JWeb just couldn't even get on the bench either.
I saw on TV JWeb sitting in the stands at the Prelim, his face said he was really really sad to be a spectator

Re: Webster and Dunstan to Adelaide
What is the impact on skills/ability missing of one year or more without playing a competition game in the firsts, as would be the case with these two warriors. I can't see how a club is going to go hard for any player that was not active for quite a few games in 2020, particularly with list reduction looming. Of course this is the time of year is ripe for the tin foil group to trot their player movements stuff. Could all get together and have a speculative rumour-in at Festival Hall. Until new owner takes over.

No doubt that players lose form when they have been out of the game for a while. I think the bigger blokes take a lot longer to regain their fitness and their touch.Yorkeys wrote: ↑Mon 26 Oct 2020 7:37pm What is the impact on skills/ability missing of one year or more without playing a competition game in the firsts, as would be the case with these two warriors. The best examples I can think where I saw players come back after extended periods was with Plugger and also Fraser Gherig when they both made a comeback
Remember also when the Duck/Wayne Carey was playing for Adelaide? He was only half the player he used to be when he played for North
Maybe Dunny, Jimmy and Dyl will be different because they have still been in the system training and playing competitive scratch matches

Re: Webster and Dunstan to Adelaide
Latest on Webster.
from heraldsun.com.au
"IS THERE ROOM FOR WEBSTER AT THE SAINTS?
St Kilda is happy to retain Jimmy Webster on the club’s list but his robust contract is one reason why they won’t be shattered if he does find another home.
St Kilda list boss James Gallagher said this week the Saints were happy to keep Webster, who has a deal through to 2022.
But he signed in August 2018 after averaging 22 possessions and 87 ranking points per match.
It means he signed coming off the best season of his career, and still holds a contract which reflects it.
With Hunter Clark, Nick Coffield and Josh Battle among the players who have gone past him, it might mean his best chance of finding a regular spot is elsewhere"

Space on the list is at a premium. There is no room for depth players that aren't also developing.
The fringe player over 25 will be a thing of the past.

Surely Adelaide will take McKenzie instead
