Is it at all possible that they both could lose?

That would at least bring me some joy. Even better if someone knocked Lynch out.

Of all the premierships since 1897, which one has been harder in terms of resilience, commitment, sacrifice by players & clubs? It has still been football. If anything the ever changing landscape of AFL rules had prepared us for a year like this. I've never agreed with the never ending tinkering of rules, time on and loaded fixtures.takeaway wrote: ↑Sun 18 Oct 2020 2:53pmEr.. I think I'll take us winning it next year or the year after over winning Covid Cup.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Sun 18 Oct 2020 12:28pm I'll be watching it, virtual drinks & barbies with mates. Good luck to both teams. The most memorable year of football in my time. The hardest Premiership to win ever. I really wish the Saints were there.
Winning it next year will be an anti climax.
Certainly a memorable year, not for the football played, but for the cobbling together of some inconvenient arrangements/restrictions to enable some sort of mini football season to be completed. Hardest premiership to win ever? In a football sense, no way.
2020 has been the fairest fixture since VFL days. If we discount a season because of a change to quarter lengths then we can disregard a large chunk of the last 30 years.
Kudos to the winners, the rest can please themselves.

The variations to rules, season length, number of players and endless change has been a feature of AFL history since forever.
How many games in 1966? 18!
The standard has been excellent this year. The games tight. Yes, would prefer longer quarters.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

i’ll send the coin for a couple of decent tickets
‘n entertainment expenses to my Club
for next years instalment of the
Wishing Well Games (st kilda style)
‘n listen to the game on the abc

but at a slight premium , if one has a contact

I’d rather clean up the dog sh!t than watch this years gF with these 2scum bag clubs.
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Corporates have already applied for over 12,000 GF tickets according to Eddie Fathead.

Can't barrack for either of these scumbag clubs. I even stooped so low as to go for port the other night.

Re: Is anyone actually going to take the time to watch next week?
I've been to every GF since 1970 including the 2 replays so it is disappointing to break my streak.
But I can't recall a GF where I had less investment.
I desperately want Richmond to lose.
But I couldn't stand a Geelong win.
So I will watch on TV sans mates thanks to F'wit Dan and just enjoy the umpiring errors!

Will be a great game played by two sides that can hold their heads high after the year we have all had ,I will watch it ( if I’m still sober after the Cox Plate)these two sides are what as a club we should aspire to be & at last I believe we are heading that way!

Re: Is anyone actually going to take the time to watch next week?
Yep, will be, and is wildly regarded as already, one of the greatest premierships in history. They are both great teams who have been great for a while, full of star players, they’ll put on a good show.PADDLEPOP1001 wrote: ↑Sun 18 Oct 2020 10:07pm Will be a great game played by two sides that can hold their heads high after the year we have all had ,I will watch it ( if I’m still sober after the Cox Plate)these two sides are what as a club we should aspire to be & at last I believe we are heading that way!
I don’t want to see the Tigers win again, but I really don’t want to see the Cats win either, so I’ll be hoping Richmond I guess!
As long as Dusty isn’t gifted another Norm Smith!

Re: Is anyone actually going to take the time to watch next week?
I guess we could barrack for anomalies and oddities.
Say, the ball suddenly deflates as Cotchin tries to kick a goal, is given a new ball and a set shot, but misses!
A goal post falls over.
The siren spontaneously starts blaring at odd times mid-quarter.
The goalie accidently throws a flag and it spins and hits Lynch in difficult areas.
Boundary ump loses his senses and accidently bounces the ball.
The match entertainment is a diabolical mess. Meatloaf comes back for a triumphant return, and let’s loose his disgust! Lol

Maybe Hawkins and Lynch can both “accidentally” punch/elbow/knee each other out of the game

Re: Is anyone actually going to take the time to watch next week?
I am very much looking forward to the game. I have no preference as to the winner, but footy has been a great release this year more than at any other time . I enjoy footy ( I have seen at least 120 of the games this season ), these are 2 very good teams, and hopefully the game will be as good as the 1967 GF which was a cracker . So the answer to your question, is ... bloody oath !

With you there George.
Watched most of the finals so far.
Paid ridiculous amount of attention to this forum.
Looking for escape. Footy kept me going.
One thing though. I hope Geelong win by a point.

I'm predicting that a piece of the newly laid MCG turf will shift unexpectedly as Tom Lynch runs in to kick the winning goal in the dying seconds. He hits the post from 5m and the Tigers lose by a point.shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Sun 18 Oct 2020 11:10pm I guess we could barrack for anomalies and oddities.

Re: Is anyone actually going to take the time to watch next week?
For much of the season, it's been a question of, "who can take their chances." There has never been a season where home ground advantage or home state advantage has mattered less, for obvious reasons. It's why, along with the reduced playing time, that the games have been so even. All of our games were, except for six - four we won and two we lost. We could easily have finished 3rd or 4th. And, we got the worst possible injury at the worst possible time.
Richmond and Geelong are nowhere the team they were when they won premierships in the past. Our team of 2009 would have beaten both by ten goals. But, it's no longer 2009.
To my eye, Richmond has a greater probability to "take their chances" than Geelong. So they are my tip.

Re: Is anyone actually going to take the time to watch next week?
I'm going, I went to the last GF away from MCG at Waverly in 91 so I'm hoping the Batmobile and Mildly Upset Anderson feature in the pre game entertainment.
I figure its an hour away from my current abode so why not, could be a cracking game.
Haven't been to a GF since the double in 2010.
I'm hoping Richmond win as I dislike Geelong more that the Tiggers and Rhys Stanley wins the Norm Smith.
I enjoyed being lucky enough to attend 5 games this season & our two finals up here in QLD and the Bulldogs game made the season a very enjoyable one, though I sympathize with my fellow Victorians who did not have the opportunity to escape.
