Would not expect Hanners to be anywhere near top 10 with amount of games he missed
It’s a silly argument Carlisle too who can’t get a contract many would say wouldn’t be top 10 either
Hill would want to pick it up next year but it’s year 1 at the club in a Covid reduced year too
Jack??? What’s his excuse ?

Hannerbury missed half the season, bit hard to get votes
Carlisle might not get a contract
Billings and hill plays every game virtually
Does that mean he only gets half his salary?
If he’s been around 6 years largely uninjured playing bruise free footy then.... yes? ??
Arguably our 4 highest paid players aren’t in the top 10 in the B&F for various reasons.
What does that say?
All posters are equal, but some posters are more equal than others.

It says you’re deflecting and not prepared to accept that a very entrenched , 6 year player in Billings isn’t living up to the pay packet after what’s been a long time.
But anyhow, keep pointing the finger at Hannerbury ...

Is Hannerbry living up to his pay packet?
Is Hill?
Is Carlisle?
They are all older, more experienced, higher credentialed recruits, but you only feel the need to have a go at Billings?
Will be interesting to see the full vote list.

4 of our fab 5 new recruits finished in the top 8!

It says that others have improved and developed this season I’d say. Great spread there only Ryder in the latter part of his career.

Yep your on the money not even worth debating & even though Hill played pretty much every game I would be very surprised if he makes the top 10. He was the type of player we needed & he had a few good games but IMO didn't really earn his money & needs to do a lot more than he did this year to be a considered a good pick up
This was our 2020 leadership group. Only 1 of them in the top 10.
This is damning. If B&F votes are the best way to assess whether or not a player is fulfilling the role required of him in the team, our 'leaders' were a great disappointment this year.

Geary
Ross
Membrey
Billings

I think most were serviceable and a few are harshly judged/not given enough credit. e.g Skunk and Gears work hard (their efforts cannot be questioned) and Skunk and Gears played their role as best as they could for the team...as well as representing the club in the leadership position
nope. clubs were better. too many on here over rate players like billings (soft and not that good) and clark (going to be a ripper, but not there yet. coffield had a better year). howard was fantastic but we overlook defenders.
"The starting point of all achievement is desire. "
It's a plus and a minus. How far can we get with a team of journeymen? Devastated we're talking about moving Dunstan on. One of the few players we've got who still plays for the jumper.
"Six of the top 10 finishers started the season with fewer than 50 games to their name, while the group also featured four of St Kilda’s five trade period recruits.
Key forward Tim Membrey received the Robert Harvey Best Clubman Award for his team-first approach and first-rate leadership."
There's only one player different in both top 10s, so I'd say that's a pretty good job.
Plus the voting mechanism is different , which will inevitably lead to discrepancies . On our forum only 5 players get votes each week, whereas many more players can get votes from the coaches . The latter favours consistently good performers , such as Howard and Wilkie who may not be top 5 but still get coaches’ votes. It also favours Butler who came 6th in our award and 2nd in the B&F. In the early games which he almost won off his own boot, he still could only get 5 from us whereas the coaches could reward him with a total of up to 20 ( I think that is the max per game ); and then later in the season was not in our Saintsational top 5 but still played handy , good-pressure games that would have jagged coaches votes .
Maybe the Ross v Billings discrepancy is a thing, but I reckon overall - as a collective - we vote sensibly and objectively .

Except where Seb Ross is concerned.
The obvious bias against him from certain SS posters has been apparent for years, but none more so than this year.
For what it is worth, Billings was 10th after round 18 but dropped to eleventh after the two finals.

Steele, gee I would never have expected that.
Butler, Howard, Jones, Ryder in top 10.
Now give them some competition Hannebury and Hill.
