Kent
Will be playing against Tiges. Nothing more certain.
Just getting it out there early so we can avoid wasting bandwidth.
Doesn't matter what his statistics are. Don't even look them up, Ratts probably won't bother looking at his stats either.
Why will Kent get a match, becuse he's match conditioned. The only changes will be for Paddy and possibly Jake if he has to leave for the birth. That's it. There will be no dropping players.
As a footnote a poster suggested the Geelong coach had courage for dropping two players. How did that turn out.

Re: Kent
He’s due to kick 3 goals and have one of his blinders.
He also very likely to be real bad.

Yes.
Because he gets picked.

Re: Kent
As I've been saying all season, and I have heen correct all season, there is no 2nd tier comps to give the coaches a look at other players or to provide players the normal opportunity to practice their skills and develop match conditioning.
There is absolutely nothing that can replace it and there is only one place you can get it, IN competition.
And so if you bring a player in and he blows up very esrly in his first few sprints and contests then you are effectively a player short. That's the issue.
But every week there is the normal calls for players to be dropped without understanding this basic element to the sport.
So I'll give you the tip, the only players that are likely to get a call up this week because they have recent (ish) matches under their belts are Hind and Marsh.
But jeez we are in trouble if Paddy and Carlisle go out and those two come in at the same time.
Let's hope like hell that Battle comes up and only one of those is selected.

Re: Kent
Vortex, 3 wks ago our reserves had a match against the Injectors' reserves. 16 a side. Matty Parker played for the Bummers.
2 wks ago, our 2nds played the Giants.
In one of those games, Marsh played forward.
Dunny had a good game.
Against Bummers 2nds, Jake played and the coach twice mentioned the word 'attitude'.

Re: Kent
His current role is not to kick goals, it is a bonus if he does. He's playing higher up the ground as a two way runner trying to help out accosss the half back and then help with i50s and the forward presss and he did get a few yesterday but his stats for his current role were down on the previous month which was very good.
He's not playing as a small forward.

Yup. Jake had been playing all season, had match conditioning.
Parker is the perfectl illustration, when he came in he was all at sea and went out as quick as he came in and never returned and highly doubtful he willl play again this season.
Dunny wont play again this season.

There isn't. Scratch matches don't even come close to simulating a competition match. And to make matters worse there are restrictions to training as well.

Re: Kent
Kent is a one sided player who rarely tackles those two things alone should be sufficient to see him out of the side let alone the fact he gets not many stats! Hopefully Battle & Robo come in for Ryder & Long but I wish they would put Sav in for Kent!

Dan Hannebery played the first 5 games before doing his hamstring, but was rushed back in as soon as he had recovered after missing 11 games, and you could hardly say he was "match conditioned".Vortex wrote: ↑Sun 04 Oct 2020 6:37pmWellardSaint wrote: ↑Sun 04 Oct 2020 6:30pm Vortex, 3 wks ago our reserves had a match against the Injectors' reserves. 16 a side. "Match conditioning" is not really a factor in the shorter quarters for professional athletes who train their guts out. Do you really think that the likes of Savage, Roberton, Dunstan and others would stay motivated if they felt they would be ruled out solely because they lacked "match conditioning"?

Re: Kent
I’m surprised you’ve shown your face around here after what you were spewing out this last week Secret Vortex!
How’d King go by the way? Pretty good for a bloke who can’t mark or kick
The 10,000 fans that watched appreciated him too.
5 touches isn’t good enough by any player no matter what the role. It’s not the first time recently he’s barely got near it either.
And absolute bullsh*t you can’t bring in another player, put that one down in the extended ‘miss’ column of SK. DH came in after injury no problem. The other blokes like Hind, Marsh, Parker and Philips are fit and ready to go.
You need to learn to fall on your sword every once in a while. I would think after missing on so many things this season you would be able to do it by now.
Kent was worst on ground by a mile, no shame in admitting it. The ONLY thing that might save him is other forced changes. He’s very lucky in that regard.

Re: Kent
Hanners is elite and he had 5 matches prior to his injury. Players like Roberton are no chance. Like many aspects of the game this year, selection criteria had to adapt to the Astersisk conditions and match conditioning is more crucial than ever before without a 2nd tier comp for options.Sanctorum wrote: ↑Sun 04 Oct 2020 7:20pmDan Hannebery played the first 5 games before doing his hamstring, but was rushed back in as soon as he had recovered after missing 11 games, and you could hardly say he was "match conditioned".Vortex wrote: ↑Sun 04 Oct 2020 6:37pmWellardSaint wrote: ↑Sun 04 Oct 2020 6:30pm Vortex, 3 wks ago our reserves had a match against the Injectors' reserves. 16 a side. It's a shame for a lot of players who are missing out but it's their job and they are getting paid handsomely to lounge around on an all expensive paid holiday in a luxury resort.
