Ben Paton run and bounce
With three Dogs on him in the third....set up the Butler goal.
Sign him up and Lonie too - his composure in the F 50 is excellent

Re: Ben Paton run and bounce
Paton will get less hype than a lot of others but he is becoming a very good player. Makes the right decisions, knows when to spoil and when to mark and has the right mix between defence and attack.
We’ve got a defensive unit that could play together for the next 8 years and will only improve.

We need a brutally midfield to compliment them and a forward line prepared to run hard at opponents and defend comprehensively.remboy wrote: ↑Sun 04 Oct 2020 10:27am Paton will get less hype than a lot of others but he is becoming a very good player. Re: Ben Paton run and bounce
Yeah, nah he’s a beauty is Ben. I still prefer the big fella Nath Brown and the long kicking of Sav, but I knew if I held Ben back and played him in the reserves that it would be to his benefit in the long run.
The Saints of course were always going to come good with my list build and with senior players teaching guys like Ben. Guys like Nath with his positioning and his abundance of 1%’ers. Guys like the hard bodied Mav Weller, and that tackling machine Newnsey. Not to mention all those games I had Benny watch Sav with his penetrating long bombs out of our defensive 50.
I also held back Coff and Longy to help them with their development and we’ve seen now that it was the right strategy.

Re: Ben Paton run and bounce
Lonie‘s a good player, but he has to learn how to use the right side of his body. He’s one dimensional, predictable and can be easy to defend. He could be great, if he perfects the knack of selling doubt about which way he’s going to turn.

Lonie seems to work hard. Hoping all our home-grown players have learnt something this season from the famous five. That other thread listing players who have lost their spots this year - Webster, Dunstan, Savage - if they're still around next season I imagine they'll be working pretty hard to improve their games over the break.

AFL teams should be able to FINE junior coaches who produce players who can only kick with one foot.
My nephew played soccer but his Dad had him kicking with either foot at age 5.
