Hope nobody starts on the old 'half time grand final sprint"
Nick Hind was our choice last year.
Crossed the line when the GF medals were handed out.
Actually somewhere near the stragglers.

Re: Brad Hill fastest in league
Ive said it before. We'll see why we paid Bradley the big $$ next year.
Around the 20-25 minute mark of a quarter he'll be the blur sprinting up and down the Marvel wings when everyone else is running on the spot. He'll be unstoppable on that deck. Jones, Butler and co will love it also.
I'm not a betting man but I'd almost wager we may not loose a game at Marvel next year.

running fast WITH THE BALL another
Running fast and hard to a contest or to tackle the bloke with the ball...

One can criticise Hill for many things but work rate is not one of them... he seems to almost be running hard to get from one contest to another

Love Brad & agree that he'll be even better in the finals & next season

Hind is not a 100 metre sprinter.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Sat 26 Sep 2020 1:00pm Hope nobody starts on the old 'half time grand final sprint"
Nick Hind was our choice last year.
Crossed the line when the GF medals were handed out.
Actually somewhere near the stragglers.
But when he has a chance to collect the ball or has the ball in possession he runs at his absolute maximum speed.
He gives his everything and more.
Opponents on the other hand run "fast" but not so fast that they blow up.
They don't want to hurt themselves, leave something in reserve for later, want to be able to run out the game.
Hind exploits this weakness in opponents and outruns them, he is willing to hurt.
I think it was Ben King who won last years grand final sprint.
It would interesting to see him run against Winks.
Winning 100 metres is not about maximum effort.
That can slow you down.
It is about technique, building to top speed smoothly and relaxing.
The more you know, the more you know you don't know.

Re: Brad Hill fastest in league
Maintain those speeds over 100 metre (not possible), every km/h is 2.73 metre faster.
Over 20 metre that gives you half a metre on an opponent.
Dean Kent speed shocked me.

Re: Brad Hill fastest in league
Three takeaways here
1) Recruiting
Our 4 fastest players were all recruits from other clubs - 3 of them this year.
- We were perceived as a bit slow.
- So brilliant recruiting there.
2) Impact when longer quarters resume
They have already made us significantly faster this year.
And as pointed out by stkfc1, when we return to 20 minute quarters that extra pace injection will really count.
3) Max King
To be our 5th fastest and equal 38th fastest in the league for a man of his size is amazing.
To have height, agility, marking ability, elite kicking AND speed is an extraordinary combination.
When it all clicks for him he will be a SUPERSTAR.

Re: Brad Hill fastest in league
Bolt v Hill v ACE over 100 metres.
Bolt wins by 20 metres over Hill with ACE 70 metres further back.
ACE did well struggling to walk 10 metres in the time.
ACE can't run, jump, hop or skip but he can sort of ski.

Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

AFL footballers don't get to ski.
I may be old and crippled but just shy of 2,000 days on ski says I'll win every time.

Ace,
you're a diamond! You know how many days you have skied? (1994 I am guessing).
I bet you are an acCOUNTant!
Any other numbers? How many plane trips? Days at sea? Countries visited? I bet you have them at your fingertips. I'm intrigued. Well done.

Re: Brad Hill fastest in league
A walk up Shengen visa allows 90 days in continental EU (the Alps = France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy).
That's 12 weeks of skiing maybe a few days over 70 on skis.
Cost $50,000 including business class airfare of $8,000
$4,000 per week.
In 2020 dollars I have probably spent approaching the ball park of $1 million on skiing holidays.
Some AFL footballers earn that much in a year but they have to pay tax and their agents on that.
Mine comes from after tax dollars.
25 Operation Snowmans to Europe so 25 air trips both ways, once to New Zealand so 1 trip both ways.
A lot of air miles.
You could call me a downhill skier without offending me.

I’d like to see his speed comparison running towards and away from a contest.
I bet they’re a bit different

Shane Savage (our forgotten man with elite DE) might have Brad Hill covered??
A post from 2 years ago (on Reddit) :
"Today Shane Savage ran at a high speed of 37.1kph, Usain Bolt averages 37.5kph in his 100m races, wow!"
