Re: Billings raring to go after 7 year wait
I spose it's the "...see how we go" that's underwhelming. I'd have liked him to say something more like "and have a red hot crack" - or anything really. But he's just gonna see how we go.

Two or three goals from a forward flank would be nice Jack

A massive opportunity for Jack to change perceptions that he's a downhill skier.

You think Jack would give a hairy rats ringer what anyone outside the club thinks let alone on a football fan forum?
Jack is highly respected inside the club and that's all that matters.
Proudly assuming the title of forum Oracle and serving as the inaugural Saintsational ‘weak as piss brigade’ President.

That’s your perception SK. Don’t create a narrative that’s not there.

Downhill skiing not possible in Victoria.
The worst season for snow in my memory and that goes back to 1976.
Although I personally did not see 1993 thru to 2007 (work followed by crippling arthritis).
2020 was a great snow season in Europe although cut short in early March by covid-19 shutdown.
If there ever was going to be an Australian season blocked by covid-19 this was the best year to choose.
I don't think clubs allow players to go downhill skiing anyhow, the risk and severity of injury is too high.

Re: Billings raring to go after 7 year wait
Jack's biggest weakness is his lack of on field leadership. A big reason why Hanners was recruited and it's no accident we play much better when Hanners is in the side. When the opposition gets a run on against us, Jack is never the player to stand up and this has been proven many times especially this last 2 months when we only won 2 games out of 6. Jack is a well known downhill skier.
Good teams can cover players like Jack which is what we should become over the next few years and there is a place for Jack, but he aint da man to lead the chorus. As I say, let's see if he can change that perception in a final. Is he a finals player.

It's a widely held perception Stinger. Even fot discussed on this board frequently over the past 2 months when Jack was contributing very little when we were losing. There was even calls for him to be traded. Did you miss those threads Stinger.saynta wrote: ↑Thu 24 Sep 2020 6:15pmYour perceptions only which no one is agreeing with so give it a f****** rest.Vortex wrote: ↑Thu 24 Sep 2020 6:13pmJack's biggest weakness is his lack of on field leadership. Jack is a good & required player & has had a reasonable season IMO but I think if he has a good finals series it might just throw the the monkey off his back & self belief might just be the tonic to get him to the next level

Exactly. As silly as it sounds, he has an opportunity for a beeakout game that will announce him as a star commensurate with his draft postion.bangaulegend wrote: ↑Thu 24 Sep 2020 7:29pm Jack is a good & required player & has had a reasonable season IMO but I think if he has a good finals series it might just throw the the monkey off his back & self belief might just be the tonic to get him to the next level

Re: Billings raring to go after 7 year wait
That’s why in round 1 for example, a game where North got a run on, Billings was BOG, and Hannerbry played but oddly didn’t use his magical leadership powers to stop North and win us the game...Vortex wrote: ↑Thu 24 Sep 2020 6:13pmJack's biggest weakness is his lack of on field leadership. If GWS offered Tim Taranto (No 2 in 2016 draft) for Jack Billings (No 3 in 2013 draft) and both players were willing would you take it ?

Re: Billings raring to go after 7 year wait
I remember when we played the Dogs earlier this year it was Jack that was the difference in the first half with his courage, his strong marking, and his accuracy in front of goal. These aren’t traits that you normally associate with JB but he seems to take his game up a level against the Western Bulldogs. When the game was on the line and the Dogs were missing gettable goals he showed the Saints boys the way and confidently kicked his set shots.
We love our heroes and when JB plays against the Dogs he seems to be this different player. If he plays a blinder and kicks a few goals and we win it’ll be a huge momentum shift for the St Kilda football club and he becomes a Saint Hero. Hopefully 2020 becomes the start of a new era. We only trade our heroes if they themselves decide they no longer want to be at the club
So....he better have a good game is all I’m saying
