Let’s celebrate 14’s 200...
Please if you don’t have anything nice to say start your own negative thread and if you have a great memory leave it here
As a club in the last few years we have not had too many milestones to celebrate, but we get one today
Many forget that Jarryn was a rising star nomination in 2008
In our great years of 09 and 10 he played 19 and 15 games, a fair achievement in that star studded team
Unfortunately he got a bad leg injury that kept him out of most of 2011 and probably determined his new role in the team
I would love to know how many one on one contests he has lost or how many goals have been kicked on him since 2012ish, I am sure that the answer would back up the remarks by his coaches etc
I have heard both Roo and Dal talk about walking onto the ground and looking into the eyes of your teammates and knowing who you could trust, pretty sure know where 14 sits in that.
My memories are of goal saving tackles and marks under pressure and a great smile when the work paid off with a win.

Re: Let’s celebrate 14’s 200...
I remember those games very well in 09 and 10, especially his 09 games, he played mostly forward of centre and knew how to kick a goal. In those games he really hunted the ball Selwood esque. He was really the talk of the town in that season and I remember thinking how good are we going to uncover a star like Gears in a star studded team on a 19 game winning streak.terry smith rules wrote: ↑Sun 06 Sep 2020 10:41am Please if you don’t have anything nice to say start your own negative thread and if you have a great memory leave it here

His ability to win his own ball is something that needs to be highlighted on video package, he is as competitive a player as there ever has been at the club and rarely loses a contest.
An amazing Captain that has been an incredibly calming and stable influence through some lean times. He just want's to win and he want's the best for his teammates more than for himself.
I hope he hangs around for a couple more seasons becuase you need players like Gears if you want to play finals.

Warrior any great leader. Inspirational that he could start as a rookie and become a 200 game player. Will always be a great Saint, well done Jarryn.

He needs to leave his legs, lungs and humility to science. Although science probably already owns most of his leg components. Glad he is a Saint - through thick and thin, bad coaches, worse coaches and good coaches - write a book JG.
