Jack Steele signs

Post: # 1866012Post kosifantutti »

Jack Steele has committed his future to the Saints after signing a two-year contract extension.

The emerging star signed a new deal this week that will see him in the tricolours until at least the end of 2022.

Great news

Been a great acquisition for St Kilda and deserves to be our next captain.

Tough, skilful and durable. More improvement left in him too.

Magnificent news in an otherwise really sh1tty and difficult time for a lot of Vic based Saints fans.

Now - just award him the Captaincy ... (please and thank you)

Totally agree, excellent news, he is the epitome of a player I want to Captain St Kilda. Give him the captaincy, actually not give, he's earned it, and then those two years turn into life.

Anyone else disappointed it’s not for a longer term? Like 4 or 5 years.

My guess is that would be his management’s favoured position for negotiating when he gets to FA?

Sorry Josh but how does he deserve to be our captain? He was not even voted to be in our leadership team!!!

Importantly, seems a solid citizen. Not a d**khead. Important qualities for a future captain. Just like Gears.

I had a poke in the eye with a sharp stick once and the thing is, I didn't see it coming.

Ooookaaaaay...hmmmmmm

Let me think

Why would you name someone captain who is able to inspire his teammates and is able to deliver under pressure and busts his guts during games to contest and run and defend and make an impact on the scoreboard deserve to be captain?

Why would someone who is - in all likelihood - about to be named in the All Australian team for 2020 be named Saints captain?

Why would someone who is close to 100 games with a good level of experience and a role model on the training track and a role model off the track deserve to be captain?

Why would St Kilda FC give the captaincy to someone who performs well in front of camera in his interviews and is growing in maturity deserve to captain?

Why would a player who has been top 3 two years running in the Trevor Barker medal ( and probably wins it this year) plus is consistently our best player every week deserve to be captain?

I’ll be stuffed if I know! Lets’s give to Jack Lonie or maybe recruit Paddy McCartin and give him the captaincy because he’s such a nice fellow

Whether he wasn’t voted in at the start of this calendar year is not the issue. I love Gears, but I think it’s time for change and Steele deserves it now and we should seriously consider a new captain for 2021. Whether Steele wants the role or whether he’d continue to perform at his best once he’s appointed are considerations for Jack personally and for the footy department and senior coach early next year

I did have a horrible thought the other day that they might give the captaincy to Seb
