St Kilda forward Tim Membrey is in doubt for the Saints' crucial clash with Hawthorn at Metricon Stadium on Sunday after undergoing finger surgery this week.
The club confirmed on Thursday that Membrey went under the knife on Monday.
While the operation was relatively minor, Membrey - a member of the club's leadership group - is a strong chance to miss the date with the Hawks, although he is yet to be formally ruled out.
It's expected he would miss a maximum of one match and be available for the Saints' round 17 game next Thursday night against West Coast.

Interesting to ponder if Membrey is playing a decoy/protection role as some may suggestjohnearljames wrote: ↑Thu 03 Sep 2020 3:17pmButler and King have taken a lot goals away from him. Its a really good thing actually.
Or if he is completely devoid of confidence this year

Probably a good week to rest him anyway, I would've thought.

Re: Membrey in doubt (finger surgery)
Not sure about the decoy thing but he's certainly playing much higher up the ground - it seems like he's getting more possessions at high half forward and on the wings. And yes - I think that's a good thing too as he's only able to do that because we now have a big forward as a focus (although it could also be argued that we're focussing a little too heavily on Max ... especially Sat night when May was all over him)sunsaint wrote: ↑Thu 03 Sep 2020 4:09pmInteresting to ponder if Membrey is playing a decoy/protection role as some may suggestjohnearljames wrote: ↑Thu 03 Sep 2020 3:17pmButler and King have taken a lot goals away from him. Re: Membrey in doubt (finger surgery)
Good idea, a permanent CHF.
Who do you think should play in these positions?
- Back pocket on the resting ruckman?
- Back pocket on the resting rover?
- Centre?
- Ruck rover?
- Second rover/ forward pocket?
and who should be our 19th & 20th man?

If he’s not 100% then rest him.
Otherwise he’s just more likely to hurt himself and be out for longer.
It’s not like there’s a shortage of players waiting for opportunity

Totally agree. We will be playing witches hats this week. No use wrecking yourself in a scratch match.

Not really, King has taken Bruce’s goals and Butler is kicking the ones everyone else used to miss.johnearljames wrote: ↑Thu 03 Sep 2020 3:17pmButler and King have taken a lot goals away from him. Its a really good thing actually.

It's only this week if Membrey doesn't pull up but you knew what I was getting at. Nice try.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Fri 04 Sep 2020 4:58pmGood idea, a permanent CHF.
