ins and outs
I have 4 in my sights after that performance
outs Geary dont care if he is the capt poor again
Hind didnt notice him at all
Kent same as Hind cannot afford players who contribute little
King I know our delivery didnt help but did get his hands to the ball at times couldnt hold em,may need a break, but believe we need to change our forwad setup
Ins Parker,Savage,Bytel,Webster if he is ready
So pissed off after that performance

Re: ins and outs
Kent out Parker In
Hind out Bytel In
Geary out Roberton in
If King was to be dropped,
Carlisle comes in, Battle goes to FF
Long for Savage also a possibility

Re: ins and outs
Wilkie Howard Paton
Roberton Carlisle Coffield
Hill Jones Clark
Billings Marshall Butler
Parker Battle Membrey
Ryder, Steele, Ross
Bytel, Savage, Sinclair, Phillips
That is 4 genuine marking options in the forward line (Billings and Butler no douches in the marking department either)
4 good runners on the bench.
We could always try Savage as defensive forward also

Re: ins and outs
Parker brings a marking threat, he is quick and aggressive.
His pressure acts are right up there and doesn't get the stats to demonstrate the running he does in the forward 50.
In his two games this year he has not been clean (granted), but I would like to see him get some more games this year. His upside is the biggest of all those competing for that forward pocket spot.

Re: ins and outs
Which version of the game did you watch?
What is your definition of poor and what do you want him to do?
FYI
He had 14 possessions at 71%
He got 70 fantasy points (note not SuperCoach) which was the 5th highest saint
He had the 3rd most pressure acts for the team
Yes he did a poor pass intercepted (certainly not alone there)
And weideman got away from him (I think weideman is actually quite quick over first couple of metres having watched him a few times, so not terrible)
He always was looking for a better player to pass to ( eg Hill) which is what we want
He was clearly better than Clark (all game) and Coffield (in the second half)
So here’s the thing if you are coming to come at Geary you better be ready than just generalised trite statements like “he was poor again)

I would go along with all of that apart for the criticism of Gears. He wasn't all that bad.. Maybe consider Robbo too. At least he gives a stuff.bergsone wrote: ↑Sun 30 Aug 2020 2:36pm I have 4 in my sights after that performance

I watched the version that was on the TV,Fantasy points etc mean nothing to me.If you think he played such a good game, you set a low standards for a captain of a team which had to winterry smith rules wrote: ↑Sun 30 Aug 2020 3:44pmWhich version of the game did you watch?

He competes that's his job.
Just May took marks and Melbourne's defence was waiting for the crumbs knowing the ball where the ball was going.
Our smalls forwards were seriously beaten.
We need Roughhead desperately to get the tall forwards (King, Marshall or Ryder, Battle and Membrey) to separate and provide multiple options.
Hind, Kent and Geary went missing.
Geary can play his 200 once we have Hawthorn in the bag.
Probably best he play 200 against West Coast.
Clark and Butler were well below their best.
Billings was soft.
Too many passengers on the Ghan.

Re: ins and outs
Not concerned with King long term, agree with the seperation aspect, its almost like the old days, just kick it long to plugger he will do the rest, that alright if he takes the marks, cant afford getting marked against but.Small forwards werent sightedace wrote: ↑Sun 30 Aug 2020 4:18pmNothing wrong with Kingbergsone wrote: ↑Sun 30 Aug 2020 2:36pm I have 4 in my sights after that performance

Re: ins and outs
Perhaps it now about choosing the best quality players, the best 22 players we have and making it work. Roberton is a better player than Hind and Kent. Why not bring Roberton in and play him on a wing (or put Clark there) and move Billings forward. We gain a better half forward and we lose nothing on the wing. It's a net gain. Hind or Kent then make way. From a pressure perspective Lonie is better than Hind and on par with Kent. Therefore, Hind goes out. King looks knackered. Topugh gig for a first year player. Rest him and play Battle at FF and have Marshall play more time forward.

Re: ins and outs
Bye will be well timed as looked slow and lethargic all night. That said what i like about Ratten is he is doing what good teams do , like for like player changes , names and reputation means nothing. Very hard to judge who comes in as no exposed form.
That said on performances over the last few weeks ( not just last night)
Hind, Kent in trouble
Lonie ( like for like- and i prefer his pressure than Parker who is flashy) , would be considered. Carlsie back - i know not like for like, but move Geary to defensive forward as i don't like him in back half or even defensive wingman on a Smith ?
I expect King to be rested for WC game after 4 day break , and if we beat Hawthorn will not be the only one as will come down to GWS game to determine finals,

I’m adopting this post as my own. Agree with all of it.cwrcyn wrote: ↑Sun 30 Aug 2020 4:43pm Perhaps it now about choosing the best quality players, the best 22 players we have and making it work. Let me add that if we get the team right, I think we can win all three remaining games. **** west coast and GWS - smash em both and get back into the top 4.

Need to change something as we are way too predictable ATM. Coaches need to get better at a plan B & the players need to be more accountable as a group not leave it up to Steele to do it on his own

Re: ins and outs
can't see much in parker, and given he was left out of the indigenous round you'd think the coaching panel doesn't see much in him either. we have a small break now and a chance to rest players, so depth players have missed their chance, barring injury.

Re: ins and outs
Carlisle may give away a 50 but he will never be our worst. Parker too good for “reserves” but not good enough for seniors. Clearly put Roberton back if fit.

Re: ins and outs
For Parker, the numbers just don’t stack up, and they are on his back.
Since Brent Guerra wore the #34 in his 13 games in 2005....
‘06, ‘07, ‘08 zero games.
‘09 Jack Steven 1 game,
‘10 Adam Pattison 5 games
‘11-‘12 Dean Polo 16 games over the two years.
‘13-‘18 Nathan Wright 35 games over six years.
Parker is cursed.
Only Shane Grambeau and of course the legend Jack Daniels know the curse too well.
If Parker doesn’t get a run, and perhaps Robbo too. It could be curtains for them.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Let's look to the future and get games in ids, see if Robbo can play.
Hind has one more look but I'm starting to think we only have 1 smalkl forward, and use the onballers to rest in the forward line to play that role.

Out: King, Hind
In: Marsh Lonie.
Those changes keep the same structure.
You can't keep playing players who make basic skill errors repeatedly in every game.
Selection integrity has to be established by Ratts otherwise all of that talk in the pre season about skills being non negotiable was just BS.
